ATI USERS!!!! Install Catalyst 4.10 driver

Because the 9 stands for September and the 10 stands for October. The 5 stands for 2005, by the way.

Do not confuse these: 4.1 = January 2004 vs. 4.10 = October 2004

The latest are 5.10 = October 2005

oh good to know :) and with those drivers it runs smootly on your computer :) friend of mine has an older ATI and he can use the 5.9 too..maybe it's just that some cards have just some options, tweaking by the newer drivers to force us to use the older ones :)

I'm using the 4.12's on my 9800 Pro, becuase in another game I play, I get terrible frame-rate with the newest drivers for some reason. Like 50% worse! So I agree with you: Don't be afraid to try older drivers!

DID you, first DEINSTALLED your 5.xx drivers??? this is VERY IMPORTANT!!! if you don't properly deinstall...some DLL will not be removed and won't be overwritten by the 4.10 version!!

Yep. Last night I cleared the cache, updated the BIOS to the latest beta, tweaked the BIOS, de-installed, then re-installed 4.10, and updated 4-in 1.

Something I did in there allowed me to play for about 90 minutes straight before it rebooted the system.

I just uninstalled 5.10 and installed 5.11 for my 9800 pro A-I-W. Everything runs smoothly now, got rid of a ton of problems, except wonder videos not showing properly.

Edit: SOME problems. Bleh.

i hope this will work for me because right now i already stop playing the game because it's so slow and it always crashes my pc.... i'm thinking if i ever made a mistake buying this game.... hopefully the creator would do something about the game.....

and do u HAVE to uninstall the drivers u have already?
cuz i tried that and i uninstalled and next thing i know, suddenly i dont have a Graphics Card at all and when i tried to install the driver i downloaded off the ATI website, it said it couldn't install because there was necessary hardware missing.
I had to do Recovery on my computer and start it off as it was when I first bought it.
So ya... is there an english version and...
How do I uninstall my current driver and install the better (?) driver WITHOUT losing my graphics card? Or what are the steps I have to take? (In simple language, preferably)

It runs super fast now. 1280x1024 with AAx4 with no slowdown. My copy of F.E.A.R runs quicker as well. Weird thing is, the disk swapping has decreased alot...

as reply to all who ask for an english version, the driver on the mentioned webpage is english! it;s just a german website providing, thought german/english would be so similar everyone could read it..sorry if not, anyway, just search in google im sure you'll find it with the right search query :)

uninstall..well yes, it's normal if you uninstall all the drivers from ATI that windows finds the graphical card as new hardware and you must install it completely new..that's exactly the point! :) the driver provided on the link though is not for the A.I.W maybe? im not sure, i searched for the radeon 9800 drivers not for the AIW 9800 drivers..maybe their the same, but on the ATI page they are different, so i guess it's like always just a matter of finding the right driver..but anyway, just must uninstall the older first.

do not uninstall from any other location as the control panel add/remove programs!! else you might get a fraudulous uninstallation!

the it said it couldn't install because there was necessary hardware missing. is most likely due to not properly uninstall of the drivers.

as answer to a post before this one, yes you must first uninstall!!! i found out if you don't do that, you keep some .dll which are not replaced by the older drivers and therefore causing problems even in windows, so make sure you first do a proper uninstall at any case, as if you just installed your windows completely new.
