Could CFC support the ODT (OpenDocument Text) extension for uploads? I just uploaded my log file that I wrote in OpenOffice.org Writer, but I had to save it as LOG.DOC to do so. Writer has an option to save Word files, but I don't know that it will look right in Word (and can't check). Sharing data between programs like this can get complicated because the programmers don't communicate; Writer might miss or mis-implement some part of Word's syntax. And if Microsoft knew about the OOo project when Word was written, they probably tried to discourage its use any way they could, which might include making the DOC format very difficult to learn/write.
I know that many people don't use OOo, and a DOC file is necessary for them anyway. But for those who do, I would rather provide an ODT file to guarantee that the file will be interpreted correctly.
But some people have neither Office nor any alternative. I was in this position for a long time because I didn't want to buy Office and didn't know about OOo. (For that matter, I would rather not use anything from Microsoft. Windows XP SP2 was the reason that my last computer, which had Office, crashed and I had to get this one.) For these people, Rich Text Format is the best option. But this is also unsupported.
While I'm at it, does anyone else have this kind of issue with another filetype?
