Hi, I've just completed my Australia Plus Mod, I know its not the first Aussie Mod.

That honour belongs to Charcoal who did a fantastic job.
To see his mod just follow the link below:

Charcoal's Australian Civ

No disrespect intended but I just wanted some different leaders to pick from. Preferably no recent politicians. ;)
I also just wanted to try my hand at modding and since I'm an Aussie that was my Civ of choice. Hope you like it.

Let me know what can be improved and what needs fixing and if possible how.
I'm a real noob at modding :( but I'm sure I can improve.
Below is the readme text, it goes into a bit more detail:

Special thanks to:

1) Jecrell - for his excellent ‘HOW TO Create a Civilization’ tutorial and his ‘Carthage Mod’ that I pulled apart to discover how to make a mod ‘the right way’ :D

2) Charcoal - for the original 'Australian Civ'

3) CFC - everyone for all the interesting and informative posts I have read/referenced

Looks like you have do some excellent work there john, my only complaint would be the light horse still looks to much like americal cavalry, but then until we can edit nif files properly i guess we all just gotta live with it:( I epecially like your flag, looks great man!!!!! Looking forward to your future work!!!! :goodjob:

Nice work, it looks great. Especially the flag. Nice how its got the southern cross. I agree on how the cavalry looks a little bit too much like American Cavalry. I'd really like to see a Aussie Mod with the Australian SAS in it. I saw one, but was too overpowered, and quite frankly not as good. I think it was the one with John Howard in it. Anyway, nice work. Keep it up.

My comment: I think the Aussie UU should be an ANZAC. It's the Anzacs who established the Aussie military tradition and whose battlefield exploits I believe have not been surpassed.

I think the Anzac should get some sort of offensive bonus as the ANZAC Corps was used as the Allies' elite shock force on the Western Front for the latter part of the war.

Great Mod.

The unique unit of Light Horse is the right choice. It was the Light Horse which played a major role at Gallipoli and in Palestine and also played a large role in Boer War. Some Australian units are still known as Light Horse despite being Mech Inf

However the Capital should be Canberra not Sydney (Melbourne was once capital, Sydney never was). Also Adelaide was spelt incorrectly.

The Lighthorse played a relatively minor role in the war. The Anzac Corps made a major contribution to the Allied victory. So I think, the ANZAC should be the UU, hands down.

the anzac forces included those of the light horse, infantry, artillary etc. a more approprate unit would be the aussie 'digger'. this refers to australian infantry who were in both ww1 and ww2 considerd some of the best shock troops in the world. at the end of ww1 a very high ranking german officer (forget the name) was qoted as saying "if i had had australians then we would have one this war"

Not sure if you can have more than two special units, but what about Aboriginal Explorers/Trackers?

I personally think that having an ANZAC or Light Horseman is not overly the best UU, the "aussie 'digger'" is also not appropriate because diggers were ANZACs, it was a term for Australian Soldiers that started and pretty much ended in World War One. Sure people still use it, but not along the same lines.

As for the SASR, I think it should be a moderately more powerful form of the Marine, replacing the Marine, having Amphibious, Drill I and Pinch, but making them slightly more expensive.

As for the Aboriginal Explorers/Trackers, they aren't even Australian, they are pre-Australian, and can you name a famous Aboriginal Tracker? Feando is also right, the Light Cavalry, IAF and the Artillery Brigades were all under the ANZAC banner. Sydney was the Colonial Capital for about 200 years, it was the first found city and since when has Melbourne ever been a Capital of anything but Victoria??? But you are right, Canberra should be the capital.

P.S, sorry about taking so long to reply, I have been busy.

Very nice. Im an Australian and i'll throw my vote for 'digger' infrantry in. I liked your inclusion of the Australian wonder and of course there is a few others you could add at a later date. Perhaps a mass tourist site? Keep its name generic because you cant really add the great barrier reef, ayers rock or the katherine gorge. Benefits are that it nets a lot of income and improves diplomacy slightly.

Other leaders could be added in, maybe John Howard (agg/org) because he's got us into a number of conflicts and has been in office for such a long time, and Whitlam (cre/phi) because so many idealize him and his social democratic policies.

Hey BLKLAZDragon check Wikipedia, Melbourne was capital of Oz from 1901 - 1927. Sydney has only ever been capital of Colony of New South Wales then State of New South Wales.

Mate, looks like a nice mod. I'm an Aussie, so it's always good to see someone doing anything to promote Australia.

Just to weigh in on the UU debate, I think "Digger" is a much too generalised term (not only is it a nickanme for an Australian enlisted man, but also for elderly males) to be used as an UU. I would have to say that SASR would be a much better UU alterantive.

ANZAC is a good idea on the surface, but if you know what the acronym means (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) you wouldn't or couldn't really call it an Australian UU. Also as feando stated, ANZAC covered a whole host of "real world" units such as infantry, artillery, and air units in WW1.

Just a thought, but maybe have a UU called "Z Force Commando"? They were elite commandos used quite successfully by the Australian Army in the Pacific campaign of WW2 after the fall of Singapore. They operated along similar lines to the English commando regiments in North Western Europe in that they carried out raids and ambushes on Japanense units and garrisons thoughout the South Pacific.

Anyway, looking forward to downloaded the mod and having some fun!

Oiii, you've beaten me to it.

I put in a (fairly comprehensive) suggestion for the nation in the sticky, but I couldn't have come up with the Snowy or CKS for the life of me.

(And on the other attempt: I just can't bring myself to align Howard and Cre.)

Ok my late late comment... UU? light horseman? hrmmm i dont mind it, but perhaps in BTS when the cavalry is moved to a later tech, which would more correspond. SAS is great idea, as we are a modern army that focuses on highly specialised quality combat, not large quantity unspecialised.

Both the leaders are expansive? is this because it is your favourite trait? australia doesnt expand, it has only shrunk, and we only really live on the coast. Organised however does make sense. We are very industrious? *shrug* so many different arguments however, so i relent.
