how do i get the austrians into the game and what are they like strengthwise?

Take a look at the creation forum, I would expect you could find it there.

i dont think this is would be in the creation forum
as it already exists as a bonus civ
its just how to activate it

It exists as a civilization in the Napoleon Scenario that comes with the game. I would recommend that you post in the main section of the Creation and Customization Forum for how to move it over into the main game. I know that some people have done that.

It's a curious omission, isn't it? Austria was a major player for centuries in Europe, more so than Germany (until the rise of Prussia). Yet we've got civs like Portugal--not really a major player, except as a colonial power--but not Austria. . . .
