Does CivIV still autosave before every turn?? I'm afraid it's gonna crash when I get the game and hopefully there won't be a need to save every turn.

You can change this in the .ini file in your documents folder.
AutoSaveInterval = 1

Will save every turn (only 5 are kept in your folder).

Are the autosave files kept in the same folder as your manual save files?

Unfortunatly even if you do save your game there is a good chance you may never be able to load it as there is a bug with loading saved games on some systems. It's a "feature" of Civ4.

I get a 2 FPS on loadup. I love this feature. It is GRRRRRRRRRRRRREAT. Sorry lagspike.

Hey at least your getting 2 FPS.. I'm getting ZERO FPS, I just crash to desktop with absolutly no log, error or clue as to why it's happening. What sucks is I'm one of a very small minority (i've seen maybe 1-2 people with similiar problems) who is having this problem and so I know it won't be fixed anytime soon, possibly never. Several issues like this existed in Civ 3 and it's still not fixed today!!!

Sigh.....

I have not yet loaded so I am not sure about the whole crashing... but I was wondering where the auto-saves are going. I observed it was autosaving (tends to be when my borders are approached or religions acquired by other civs:sad: ... reminds me of DesciplesII).

Would like to know where they are going though. There are 4 save folders for different games. Sinblge player, PBEM etc. No Autosave folder that I can see though....

I did load a game from the auto-saves.
I do remember that it wasn't in the manual saves folder but close to it. I just browsed throught the directory structure on the left when you load a game till I found it. If I remember correctly the folder wasn't called 'autosaves' or anything like that but some thing else entirely (Had a late night game last night-can't remember so well)

Well, going out to Windows Explorer, there is an auto directory under the single directory and thats where the save game files are.

I'm at work so I can't see if I can get to it through the game right now. I'll post later tonight.

Thanks!

I looked last night and if you go to the load game screen, to the left of the single player folder is a (very) small grey plus sign. Click on it and you get two subdirectories, one of them being the auto saves and the other the quick saves. This is also true for the other four main folders (MP, etc.)
