Hello Fellow Die Hard Civ Fans,

I have asked on this board before about how people can win on such few turns around 200 to 400. I play with Auto Turns and I see that there are many times when I want to make an unit move or buy a building etc. But once I want too another turn goes by. So I see that many turns are being wasted by playing with Auto turned on for game play. Resulting with perhaps an extra 200 + turns total for a game on Marathon speed.

Enlighten me...what are the pro's and con's to auto turn. I started with this option turned on when learning how to play Civ V and have left it on and now playing God's and King's I believe I am making a mistake by keeping it on.

Thanks

Depends on why you turned it on in the first place. Personally, I see no benefit in single player mode.

Also, you're not going to see many Marathon victories in 200-400 turns (equates to roughly 70-130 turns at Standard speed) -- maybe domination games on smaller maps.

The 200-300 turn wins are happening on Standard, not Marathon.

Also I wasn't even aware that auto-turns was a thing.

I use it in OCC near the end all the time.
I miss to much tuff if I use it for a regular game. I wish it had an option to pause when a city grows...

Am I crazy that I don't even know what auto turn is?

just open options and click the "Single player auto end turn" button. The game will just advance turns until something stops it like your worker finished an improvement, a new building needs to be built etc.
