Has anybody try putting military unit on auto?

I put my Fascist (which I set the tag as attack/def/tera with 6/8/1) on auto mode and some of them actually is escorting some of my pioneers enroute to the place where I want them to settle (my Pioneer has 2/3/1 all terrain as road and IS a settler) :D

Pretty good AI here I must say. Good work on this one Sid!:goodjob:

how do you mean putting them on auto??

by giving them the automate ability with the editor??

Now I am about to discover flight in my game and 2/3 of the AI government are Fascist :D (I make it a perfect war government as it get 20 free units  )

As I am typing this I can actually see lots of Fascist unit running across my map from diff Civs:D

Ok, a little update on this auto matter. I just had a war with the Aztec and those Fascist that are not escorting the pioneers all rush towards the front line battle zone!!:D

So it seems that the AI recognise the unit's ability very well eventhough the unit has 3 abilities (attack, defense and terraform). It is evidenced as the AI actually split the Fascist to do all the 3 task. Some are building roads and rails, some escorting the pioneers and some going into war. In fact, I find the auto button to be a very good one as I forgot to garrison one of my city and when I set some Fascist on auto one immediately pop into that empty city to defense it :goodjob:

I am impressed !:king:

Sounds like they actually got something right then.

I think what you have done, is adopting the AI's algorithm of moving units around. By putting automate on human control unit, you're doing what the other AI civs are doing to their own units. I'm not sure if you got what I mean. What I'm trying to say is that when your unit is on automate, the AI controls the unit the same way it controls the units in the AI civs. The same algorithm! Hmm.. this way, if you put automate on other units, you can actually find out how to AI work! Congrats :)

I know what you mean, fauzi:D What I am trying to say above is that the AI is real good stuff if it can fully utilise the capability I intended to give to the unit that I created. I think even the program will be supprised as from what I read at the Aplyton transcript with the AI programmer, you should not put two or more type of ability to a unit (if attack then no defense etc) or the AI might get confused. From the look of it, AI did not get confused at all!!

Thats why I said I am IMPRESSED:egypt:

Ah, I see, that's great. But surely there's a limit to everything eventually:rolleyes:

Hey, its just a program (no doubt a very good one:goodjob: ) and not something omnipotent:hammer:
