It's not a major problem, since I can still start the game, but I am befuddled as to why this would inexplicably start happening when nothing changed on my computer. Chances are uninstalling and reinstalling would fix the problem, but I don't see the point in wasting the time to do that.

Conquests, WinXP, Pentium 4 M, does the rest of that stuff really matter?

Edit: Hmm, I thought 85% made no scrolling necessary, I guess I'll go with 80% in the future.

Try this:
Go into your conquests folder and rename JGL.DLL.
Put your original Conquests CD into the drive and explore the CD. In the root folder you will find a copy of JGL.DLL. Copy that to your Conquests directory and then try and autorun the game.

Substitute if necessary for vanilla/PTW if you play those too and have problems with them. In fact, that may be an idea too. Can you autorun Civ3 vanilla successfully?

When was the last time you ran a disk check over the drive that Civ3 is installed on? May need one as it is a possibility that that file has corrupted due to disk problems... I dont know how much you know about the file system utilities (so dont want or mean to offend if very knowledgeable and you dont need to read on :) ) but go into the command line and type:
"chkdsk <drive letter Civ3 is installed on - e.g. c:> /F"

If advised that the drive is locked, hit Y to run the CHKDSK after a restart. You can also substitute "chkdsk" with "chkntfs" if Civ is installed on a NTFS partition.

Good Luck! ;)
