One of the most exciting A&A games to date, Axis and Allies: Pacific 1940 pits Japan against the allied pacific powers America, Britain, ANZAC and China. A playable China and ANZAC (which, by the way, is Australia and New Zealand) makes this game a lot of fun. It has strategic areas for each nation to capture for more money, as well as unique victories for Japan and the Allies. Japan wins by controlling 6 of the 8 cities on the map, which include Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Calcutta, Sydney, Honolulu, Manila and San Fransisco. The Allies win by simply taking Tokyo, which isn't as easy as it sounds.

The rules, I'll admit, are quite complex, and may be a bit much for a first-timer to handle. But by the time you've got a grasp on it, this game is a lot of fun. I just played half a game with my brother, and both of us are in tricky situations. He, as Japan, has control of most of the mainland, and almost all of the sea. However, he hasn't taken the islands, and his forces were depleted in the attempt. If he can manage to take them before I can defend them, I've pretty much lost. But if not, I can push onto the offense.

We had a great time, and with only two players. With a four player maximum (or theoretically five), imagine how much fun you could have! If you don't have it, I recommend getting it right away! If you do have it, tell me what you think of it, or share you experiences!
