Ok, so i was playing as Germany on king difficulty on a sandstorm Pangaea with napoleon and others. however, no matter how happy i made napoleon, doing whatever he wanted, he back stabbed me even though we had a defensive pact... so i created this thread for you all to post your ridiculous back stab stories.

Many times in mp games i told my neighbors that we will be friendly traders and defend our land if needed. But each time i backstabbed them. I'm pretty happy that the AI acts like me. Good news!

You should be happy too.

I find Caesar will unfailingly backstab me. We'll have a history of friendship and long trade partners, then boom "Backstab is such an ugly word...".

You are a jerk.

My response isn't so much that this is a ridiculous way for him to behave as it is a pity he did it when he was in no position to actually triumph.

Duplicity is not necessarily a bad thing.

yes. i had completed the Manhattan project and he was still in the renaissance era. i was approaching rocketry. i also had 20 aluminum from conquesting Rome. (something which he told me to do). so whle he sent his riflemen to attack me, i rolled over them with panzers that had blitz :)

It seems the backstabber in my games is usually Hiawatha, especially if we have a friendship, research agreements etc etc... however, I expect it these days ;)

I can always count on Augustus to backstab. It's a 100% guarantee. I certainly take advantage of it though. He's a pretty good city builder, so taking some of his lovely cities is adequate payback.

Heh, yeah. Lately, every time Monty offers me a research agreement, he DoW's on me a turn or two later. I just ignore him anymore and reckon any such offers are indicators that he just wants to rape my treasury in prelude to a sneak offensive. Bastidge.
