Back to desktop when loading without any error message

Hello everibody.... i'm about to get creazy and i hope you'll be able to help me!!

following problem
Everytime i Try to launch the game it shows for about 1-2 sec the loading screen (written loading in about 4-5 languages).
the it crashes back to desktop without any error message or something else.
(it doesn't even apear on the taskbar)

I've done the following things untill now
updated every driver i had
installed new direct x
used the PAK file
hidden every burning or virtuel drive software
reinstaled about 5 times

PLZ HELP MEEEEE!

Got a similar problem myself and it's driving me nuts!

Game installed fine from the DVD drive but when I try to launch it I get the loading screen followed by an error message: "Cannot locate the CD-ROM. Please insert the correct CD-ROM, select OK and restart application". This also causes my system to no longer recognise my DVD drive until I reboot.

The only tech support page regarding this tells me to insert the other CD and try again... er... what other CD?

I have the same problem here.
First i had no error message, like u.
Now, after deleting windows and reinstalling everything, i have an error message from windows.
If someone finds the solution, let me know plz.

no your problem is different to mine , but i can solve yours:
download sd4hide and hide your digital mounting softwares like daemon tools or clone cd then it will work again

saw this hint in other forums and even nero will occus the "put the right cd-rom" error message was said..

Nero?!? Oh FFS, that's bloody ridiculous!

I work as tester for a handset manufacturer and it makes me smile when I read mobile phone forums and people are saying "They just use as beta testers" because believe you me, if you saw the beta s/ you'd know it, but this time I really do feel like it. Work arounds, issues like this: really, far too rushed to market.

not the 1st thread for this problem, but u think just one damn idiot helps? NO! never had such problems with games, not even sacred with 1000 bugs, they say what to do, but here no one damn knows anything!

Hey Fellow Im having the same problem as you now, still no way to play. The first time I installed the game it went just fine and then when I put The play cd in (Its labelled install) the autoplay kicks in and i brings up the Play...Readme...Exit screen. So I hit the play button and it would get to the first loading screen the one with loading written in about 4-5 languages, then the Cannot locate CD-Rom error pops up.
So after I checked to make sure I had all the right Drivers, sp2, etc.(Which I did, pc is 4 months old). I reinstalled the game put in the play cd hit the play button then nothing, it wont even get to the first loading screen now. My drive is tring to read it but cant. Why when I put the cd in the drive it will install fine and bring up the Play...Readme...Exit screen, but then it wont start the game?
Im still waiting for a response E-mail from last Thursday. At least Star Wars BF2 works fine for me, but I want to play CIV. Any ideas would be great.

so you get at least the error message that you'r cd is wrong? i don't get anything.... and it's driving me creazy....

Sounds like a safedisc issue. Unfortunately, sd4hide would only prevent safedisc from detecting your daemon tools, nero, alcohol, etc programs but what you need is either a no-cd patch (and there are none) or Firaxis patching the game so that safedisc doesn't cause any problems.
It's a wonder how it's happened with so many games in the past, yet still games are released that have safedisc working badly.

thx for information , at least i know WHAT is the problem ... but bad luck it's still not solved.... but why arent there no-cd cracks normally it doesnt take so long to create them....

Still not working. Gone beyond furious... particularly as uninstalled Civ3 and I can't find the disk now! Got Conquests but need the bleeding Civ disk. Grr.

time to catch up on my tax form I guess.
