MadManCam submitted a new resource:

Balanced PC Master Race - Balanced (non-op) version of Glorious PC Master Race

Steam Workshop Page

Play as Gabe Newell leading the PC Master Race. Construct unique districts like the Development Studio, command the Ascendants recon unit, and create the Half Life 3 game (luxury resource).

Supports YnAMP TSL for Largest Earth, Giant Earth, and Greatest Earth Map. The Master Race will start in Bellevue, Washington.

This mod is based off Monk Preston's similar mod for Civ 5. This is the...

Not that I really mind or anything, but this balanced version is already quite overpowered...

Perhaps. Didn't feel right to take out some of the original elements when I made this version.

Sumeria has a unique improvement that gives +2 science, so I didn't think the Gaming Shrine bonus was too much. Most of the districts are the same as originals besides two of them costing less to build. The Pumping System can be built anywhere in the city and gives +5 housing but it requires Steam Power. Office Complex is available earlier than Neighborhood but never gives more than 4 housing. And the projects all have the same yields and don't award Great Person points, but yes there is one that awards 2 copies of a unique luxury resource.

Out of curiosity, do you think any specific parts are overpowered, or is it just the combination of everything? If anyone else has thoughts on this or would like to see a nerf, please share.

The Leader Ability - More adjancency bonuses, more districts and two districts for half price - is the Japanese and German civ abilities bundled together, with some added synergy, meaning basically 2.5 abilities for the price of one.
The Civ Ability - bonus combat against barbiarans and more xp - is fine.
The Unique Building - Monument replacement that grants production and science as well is extremely strong. Just the science would be fine, though it does have the advantage over Ziggurats that you don't actually need to work it, but rather passively get the yield, but that +2 production on top of it makes it a super strong first build. It's basically a better version of Rome's unique ability, as you earn the production you put into it back in 30 turns (standard game speed), and from that point on it's just +2 production and +2 science compared to what Rome gets.
Unique Unit - Seems fine, though I would argue it's more useful as an upgrade of the Ranger instead, as it comes quite a bit later.
Unique District - Not much, but a more reliable and early Neighborhood allows for stronger cities, even though it doesn't give the bonuses Kongo gets, and an Aquaduct upgrade with more housing means that your cities can just grow forever as long as you keep your amenities and food up. Basically, housing isn't a stat anymore for the civ. What's bugging me more, however, is that it comes together with a unique building, while all other civs come with either a unique building or a unique district. The standard setup is this:

Civ ability
Leader ability (can include second unit)
Unique district/building/improvement
Unique unit

You add an extra unique in, and on top of that the Leader Ability and Unique Building are too strong.

Thanks for your feedback Leyrann.

What would you think about this nerf:
- Gabe no longer gives an extra district for each city
- Gaming Shrine no longer provides bonus production.
- Office Complex no longer has any special functions and works like the Neighborhood.

I can look into making the Ascendants unit a standalone rather than replacing the Ranger.

MadManCam updated Balanced PC Master Race with a new update entry:

The Nerf Update

- Dramatically reduced the project costs for Designing and Developing Half Life 3.

The Nerf Update:
- Gabe no longer provides a bonus district per city beyond population limit.
- Gaming Shrine no longer provides bonus production
- Office Complex requires the Urbanization Civic like Neighborhoods.

This nerf was based on user feedback. If you have any thoughts, feel free to share.

Text and Audio Update

- Icons should work properly for you with this update if they weren't before.

The Text/Audio update:
- Japan's music should now play when you play as the PC Master Race. See the discussion for how to change the civ music.
- Added a poorly done Japanese Translation for the mod using Google Translate.
- All other languages besides English should now display the mod text (Mod text is still in English though, except for Japanese).
- Japan's music should now play when you are playing against...

How to Change the In Game Music

Please keep in mind that these changes are not permanent, and every time you update the mod your change will be overwritten.

IMPORTANT: Editing game files, including those from mods, may lead to disconnects in multiplayer. You may have to play with default settings in multiplayer.

1. Navigate to the mod folder and open the "ArtDefs" folder.

2. Open "Civilizations.artdef" with any text editor (Wordpad or Notepad on Windows)

3. Press Control+F (on Windows) to do a search.

4. Type <m_Value text="Japan"/> into the search field.

5. Press FIND or FIND NEXT. This will take you to the spot you need to edit.

6. Replace "Japan" with the name of the civilization you want the music for. Remember to keep the quotes. This value is case sensitive, so the first letter needs to be capitalized. See below for all possible values.

7. Save the file, and close it.

Now start Civ 6, and you should have the music for the civ you want.

If something went wrong, you can just re-install the mod.

Possible Values (Base game):
Scythia
Sumeria
Egypt
Greece
America
Arabia
Aztec
Brazil
China
England
France
Germany
India
Japan
Kongo
Norway
Rome
Spain
Russia

Possible Values (Requires appropriate DLC):
Australia
Indonesia
Khmer
Persia
Macedonia
Nubia
Poland

How to Change the Unit Culture

- This changes how the units' skin/features look in game

1. Navigate to the mod folder

2. Open ArtDefs/Cultures.artdef with any text editor.

3. Scroll down to the bottom, a few lines from the bottom you will see somewhere where it says "NorthernEuropean".

4. Change NorthernEuropean to one of the following possible values (these are all available in the base game, I'm not sure if the DLC added any new ones):

- EastAsian
- Mediterranean
- Mughal
- NorthAfrican
- NorthernEuropean
- SouthAfrican
- SouthAmerican

5. Save the file and close it. Now you can start the game.
