I'm sure you've heard of the miniseries. I'm watching a DVD of some of it now. I know its based on a documentary, but I was wondering how realistic it is? Did they exaggerate on teh book at all, or did they stay pretty much to the book?

I'm interested, as it is pretty good so far. :)

It's the best series I've ever seen, haven't read the book, though, but I suppose it's good. Just can't get enough of it. It has been rated 9.5 out of 10 on imdb.com, which is one of the highest scores you can find in their database!
Anyone knows how much the BoB DVD box costs? I've heard it's a fair amount of money.

There are some sections that expand on characters that don't feature in the book much. One of the best episodes focuses on the actions of the medic Eugene Roe at Bastogne.

Jesus Christ, $80 bucks?!

Better wait, then. :(

Same price here in Denmark. But that show is worth it.
Best visual experience of soldiers in war ever.

My favourite character is George Luz, a very funny guy.

Gotta love Maj. Winters, in fact I think I'm very much like that character. He's cool. There are so many awesome scenes, that you lose count very fast. So much attention on details and reality is unprecedented, which, along with the plot itself, makes it so legendary.

Which one is George Luz?

My favorite is that tubby blonde Sergeant who gets promoted up; the guy does a fantastic job acting the transition from green grunt to confident veteran.

Tech Sgt. George Luz, is the radio man from 1st Platoon.
The tubby Sgt. must bme Sgt. Randleman from 2nd Platoon, he’s still alive today btw.

BoB is excellent. I taped all the episodes, but don't worry only me and my dad have watched them. Also, I have read the book and the miniseries is exactly on par with the book.

My favorite was always Major Winters. he was a hard-working man that got decorated and promoted through the ranks righteously. Out of the enlisted men, it is hard to choose because they all have that something that makes them unique and distincly American.

Yes, the show is excellent and very much like the book. My favorite was Nixon, who was Winter's friend. Amazingly they sell it here in Germany.

I think it diverged in only a few spots from the book. The nurse in Bastogne was totally a film device, and of course, there was some cutting of some of the experiences. All in all, however, an excellent production. HBO is rather good at this: they did an original movie, "When Trumpets Fade (Die)" about the Hurtegon Forest that was also excellent.

No she wasn't. Though she did not appear in the book "Band of Brothers", she was not an invention.

Really? I am surprised.

A little known battle, absolutely horrible for the men who fought it.

I'm going to make a point to see that movie.

It's great mini series and i own the DVD set and comes with a bonus disk with some history and making of Band Of Brothers.
I argee it's rather pricey going for roughly $120 Canadian but i fell its worth it
