First time poster long time lurker (If this subject is covered in another thread please point me in the right direction.)
I am looking into making a special Civ 3 game / mod with the following attributes, I have been wrestling with the editor and as it stands now it is not possible to do alot of what I say below but still, I would like to try:
- Everyone starts with 1 warrior and a barbarian hut only. The hut will slowly generate warriors, barbarian settlers (to make other barbarian huts) and a galley (if on the coast) A problem with this idea right now is if you lose a battle with out a city the game counts that as a loss automaticly. Until the first city is built a budding barbarian tribe should not be counted out until all fighting units are destroyed.
-a warrior might be made in 10 turns
- a barbarian settler might be made in 20 turns
- a galley might be made in 20 turns
- Each civ starts out generic and developes into a standard civ abilities that is determined by collecting techs from advanced tribes' goody huts. (would need a way of increasing the appearance of huts in a random generated map) This would mean that the first 2 (maybe more?) different techs collected would determine what Civ specific abilities the barbarian tribe would gain once they have achieved their first settler at which time you get the introduction screen that normally starts the game and dictates the CIvs abilities. In this way you could pick Japan and end up commercial and expansionist..
- Alphabet = Commercial
- Warrior Code or The Wheel = Militaristic
- Pottery = Expansionist
- Bronze Working = Scientific
- Ceremonial Burial = Religious
- Masonry = Industrious
- If a settler is not found from advanced tribes a barbarian hut will randomly generate a standard settler after a set number of turns (how about 75 or 100?) that would begin the standard game play.
- No mandatory retirement at 2050, the game continues until you get a winner.
