Barbarian combat odds

Hi all,

Sorry to bother with a question I guess I'm the only one whose answer I ignore, but (:crazyeye:) :
+ I'm playing Archos, and while still at peace with the barbarians (savage), I want to build my giant spiders (HN) by attacking some small cities protected only by some orc warriors.
I sometimes win, sometimes loose, but I cannot get the odds for the combat. It works fine when attacking an IA player I'm at peace with or when attacking other HN animals, but not with the savage.

Any idea how to make the odds appear ? (some clever keys stokes) or is it a bug/feature ?
 
You can't. Propably not implemented, yet.
I wouldn't say a bug, since noone actually coded anything, to my knowledge, so that it could be broken ;).

The basic problem with this is that when you are HN the game tells everything to treat you like you are a Barbarian, EXCEPT for the portion asking if you are allowed to attack someone. There it just says "Whoever it is, YES."

The odds are generated based on asking "What team do you belong to?" and then asking the other unit "And what team do YOU belong to?" And deciding if those two teams hate each other or not. It did ask the units if they plan on fighting each other first, but then it also told them to shut up and went off to check on the teams opinion about the matter.

If I remember right I looked for the function responsible for calling to display the odds once and didn't find it. It could be that the call is made from inside the EXE, so we can't control when it is made. If that is the case, then the only solution would be to create a 4th Barbarian Civilization which doesn't actually have any units, and is at war with everyone, even the other Barbarians. Then you make everything with HN appear to belong to that Civilization instead of the Orcs.

Honestly, I prefer to do it that way anyhow, so that you can actually state in the "Enemies are at our borders!" information and other locations that they are HN units, instead of claiming they are Orcs.


EDIT: Nevermind, found it this time. Combat odds now display properly when HN attempt to attack Barb allies.

The miracle with you FF team, is that it's enough to point at a problem for you to find the solution :)
