Barracks during axe rush?

I always assumed the idea with a HA rush was the same as for cavalry, that you'd use espionage to take down cultural defense if at all so they don't get slowed down. But then i've never been much good at any kind of early rush above emperor.

Axe rush window on Emperor is pretty low. Unless im going BW due to forest and a copper pop in one of my cities, I'll just skip rushing.

Horse Archers on the other hand are pretty useful until AI get Longbow, thats a reasonable window for a rush.

I never ever rushed on Immortal, if I get boxed in I reload :mischief: . Not a very good rusher :(
 
Quecha starts with combat I regardless of AGG. HC's UU is as good as any AGG version of it.

HC does not get AGG priced barracks, this is the problem.

Is cover worth an extra quecha in the timeframe we're considering?

I guess it's a good point though. I find these things to be overrated outside of choke situations (maps where it's just you and shaka bff on continent together) since high level AI never builds warriors and if you pillage them silly will probably never see longbows. Would a 1/2 cost rax really change it into something that can consistently drop an immortal or deity AI? I'm tempted to say "no way in hell".

For every game you spawn near gandhi, there's another you spawn near an AI with BFC copper/horse, protective hill capitol (and on deity 2nd city too), the mali, pacal, or sitting bull all who could easily field at least one "screw you" unit before you can get there rax or not.

If you're ok with HoF strategy of "low % win chance high returns game spam" and are willing to abuse marathon, they get a huge lift in usefulness, but for standard games I'm not seeing it beyond early barb d which IS useful.

In MP most players will just build warriors to beat them, though I suppose they're like any other warrior rush there otherwise.

Multipliers don't work exactly like that, and warrior rushes without a worker 1st are iffy...but if you build a worker first there is no way you can guarantee success against any civ as they can easily have a strat resource hooked by the time you get there.

In other words, 5-6 quecha vs 4 is *more* than 25% power boost. We're talking about a pretty small timing window that MIGHT exist here. There's a reason neither of us does this routinely...
