BAT Mod Multiplayer

I'm sure this information is available somewhere, so sorry for asking, but I am not finding how to get BAT working for multiplayer on Vista. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks.
 
Everyone must install the same version of BAT, load it as a mod, and start/join the multiplayer game normally. What problems are you having? What version of BAT are you using?
 
I and a friend are playing BAT 1.1, both of us using Vista. I load mine as a mod, but he has his load automatically. If I tell him to change his installation to load BAT as a mod, will that allow us to play it multiplayer? Thanks.
 
BAT is always installed as a mod. That your friend set up Civ4 to load BAT automatically doesn't change this. Are you having specific trouble getting it to work? What exactly happens? Are you able to play a LAN or INTERNET game with your friend without BAT?

Please be very specific about what you're doing and what is happening, otherwise we can't help you.
 
We partially fixed the problem. I was running from the Documents directory and he was running from Program Files. We changed it so that we are both running from Program Files, and that allowed us to play. Sort of. Unfortunately, the mod seems unstable in Vista, and it crashes every time we start a new one. I blame Vista.
 
You might want to give BUG a try then. It doesn't have any of the extra unit/building graphics, but it has all the added functionality (screens, scoreboard, dotmap, alerts, logger, etc).
 
Regarding issues with BAT, there are definatly a few bugs and errors that get thrown by the default ethnic unit art from Varietas Delectica (just check your error logs to see), and I've found one definite critical error that can (rarely) cause a crash due to some bad reference in the Native American City art. But for the most part it is stable, and shouldn't be causing any critical bugs (I don't know about Vista though, it is quite a bit more touchy then XP). To fix this for the mod I've been working on, achilleszero has been working for the past month or so on cleaning up the ethnic unit and city art for Legends of Revolution.

Whoever is in charge of BAT might be interested in this. There are some mod specific art things done, but the vast majority of the model and graphics fixes are for Varietas Delectica in general. Bascially he's cut down the poly counts of everything to reasonable sizes (some where as high as 10,000, all units are now under 2000, and all city art is equivalent to default BtS), and fixed bad node and other references that kept showing up in the error logs. If you are interested in this, I can upload all the art seperately and remove the extra leaderheads and any mod specific units and buildings for BAT. Of course achilleszero would need to be credited for his work here.
 
Yes, that would be awesome. You should coordinate with Alerum68. Have you talked to the authors of VD and the ethnic art stuff so they can be fixed once and for all in the root mods?
 
achilleserzo and Avain have started a dialogue. Don't know what will come of it, but it's looking likely VD will have fixed models (city and unit) for the next release. So probably best for Alerum68 to wait on that.
