BBC Civ 5 Video Preview (new in-game footage)

Ha ha. Because, surely, reporters aren't real humans. No way do they have lives and interests and stuff. Only problem is, reporters aren't "briefed". Gathering information is what they do, that's their job. It's they who brief you.

No, I'm inclined to think this reporter actually was human. What a thought.

Sigh.

It was a simple throw away piece of humour, not something to be analysed

I've lost count of the number of times I have seen anchors (in particular) and journalists ask really inappropriate questions with poor emphasis or inflection, or poor use of buzzwords that don't quite fit. This chap was clearly on the ball and knew his stuff (which, as a British ex-pat doesn't surprise me of the BBC) so I thought I'd have some fun with it.

Nothing more to see, no hidden meaning.

Oh, and of course journalists are briefed, that's what press briefings are for; that's why they'll often chat briefly (no pun intended) with the interviewee before the interview, especially in informative pieces like this rather than an investigative piece, to understand what points they want to emphasize and what points might interest the audience. This allows the developer to brief them on the details so they can look more authoritative during the interview. This reporter clearly had a depth of knowledge beyond what quick research or a rapid pre-interview briefing could give him, hence the attempt at humour.
