Citizens,

Our valiant scouts have discovered maps that have revealed much land to our north.

So, where should we scout next? Currently, Karakorum is producing a scout, so we might have two shortly. What areas should we discover?

the map revealed that there are two other villages nearby, our current scout should move to make contact with these people and find what they may be able to show us. We have ample time to explore our area before our next city will be settled, but we need to make sure a rival does not get to those villages before we do.

i agree..scout towards the villages. Then I would "circle " our city.

Yes, I agree too.

Concur about the villages.

If we get a second scout, I'd like to see them sweep the south quickly, then head west.

If the Elder chooses to allow training of the scout to complete, I'd like him to see what lies on the coast to the south, and then send him to the east to see what is beyond the gold. The existing one could clear off the scattered unknown places on his way to meeting the villages on the map, and then continue west from there.

I'd like the first scout to go east, and the second scout to pick up the villages.

I rather have the first scout pick up the villages. Waiting for a second scout (if we even build it) will give the AI plenty of time to capture those two. And on Prince, there is only one hut that yields a technology (lets hope we get it, as it gives a huge boost to the game.)

If we do build a second scout, why would unveiling tiles be prioritized over goody huts? By building the scout we are ensured the second scout can unveil tiles that are being used to plot new cities. I don't see much advantage of sending the first scout east, and the second one after the goody huts.

But then again, what does the Elder say about the build queue?

We should also keep on exploring our land and carefully pop those goodie huts. Also, keep an eye out for wild animals. Even though they wont stray into our borders, they can still wreck havoc on our scouting party and interrupt our scouting mission.

Yup. Get the goody huts, but stay away from bears and lions. I kinda have a grudge against them  Of the majority of my scouts that died, they were the cause.

First scout goes to villages: 8
Second scout goes to villages: 1

I guess I'm outvoted here.
Btw the line in the north of the picture is the equator, it should give us an idea how much the land will continue above that.

Not really outvoted since it isn't technicallly a vote. :D

How'd you figure the equator point? We'll want to settle a very good production site within 30 degrees of lattitude.

Turn resource bubbles on, they point to the equator, so when you see bubbles pointing up on one row of tiles, and bubbles pointing down one row below, the equator is between these two rows of tiles. (@Dave, you could have known this, I've said it in the DG1 too.)

About the latitude, you can only build the Space Elevator with 30 degrees of latitude, so if you want to build it, you need a good city there.

Yes, but I felt like giving you an opportunity to showcase your knowledge. :D
