bed_03 - RaR, Demigod, random civ

If you're enjoying this game, you'll love regular RandR with workers who actually work. Since this is extended, builds also cost way more and techs are more expensive.

Rat,

Hiawatha will attack any army that is so much as one hp down. This is death to our Kensai armies. I've been using them mainly to cover units. If you take two armies to raze a town, one can attack and the other cover. Or now that we have Rifles, those work decently.

Hmm. It must be bizzaro world. I caution peace for once and then Bez decides to declare war and have a little war without me.
With only losing 2 kensai, our unit costs didn't go down much. I think Satsuma can build Lady Liberty, which we really want. I would also try to get 3 stock exchanges so we can get wall street in Satsuma, then add in the brokerage firm.

"Hmm. It must be bizzaro world. I caution peace for once and then Bez decides to declare war and have a little war without me."

I didn't want you to think you were the only unpredictable one around here.

:satan:

"With only losing 2 kensai, our unit costs didn't go down much."

No, our unit costs went up considerably, as I built a lot of workers and would like to build more. Good thing the Celts and the Sioux are bankrolling all this for us, and then some! :)

Oka would be in some danger if we burned many units, it is one city vs. a massive continent. I've seen maybe three Iro ships, so his units have nowhere else to go but to head toward Oka. We probably helped his economy by declaring war. He's now starting to send his extra defenders, which makes the kill ratio a little harder to maintain, but also makes his cities easier to raze.

Leathernecks are amphibious 8-attack, +2 hp units, so we may want to load up some of our clippers (covered with an Iron Frigate for bombard support) with these guys to raze coastal cities and then load up the workers. We really need upwards of 1,000 workers due to the bug and all difficult terrain.

With fisheries, our coastal cities should be a lot more productive now, so we could squeeze some ships/units in around other builds.

Upcoming wonders that require other builds (the pedia says 5 on some, but I think they just need 3):

We have the tech for:

SW Wall Street - 3 SE's, then can build SW Brokerage Firm
SW National Library - 3 Univ's
SW Conglomerate - 3 Corporate Offices
GW Empire State - 3 Skyscrapers

Need tech:

SW National History Museum - 3 Museums (Marxism)
GW (Mass Production) Crystal Palace - 3 Factories
GW Echelon - 3 Police Stations (Totalitarianism)
GW Hollywood - 3 Movie Palaces (Motion Pictures)

That's all I can think of for now - more to come in Modern Age.

Oh yeah - Supreme Court, the most important one!

Admirals of the Fleet now upgrade to Iron Frigate (Nara and Oka have shipyards for upgrades). The Frigate has ATAR, so moves much faster, and higher rate of fire on bombard.

I would not upgrade them as the hitpoints do not go up, and the Attack and defense are not better. IIRC, the Iron Frigate has less defense. Of course I might be thinking of the Rocket Tonkang. I would check to see if the upgrade is worth it. I know the upgrade to Rocket Tongkang is a really bad idea, and I do not remember that Iron frigates are much better.
I could be wrong though.
Good job on the nice kill ratio Bez.

Pre-turn
building park in 2 in Kyoto is a huge waste of shields, short rush it via worker-build (not disband!)
send one army for pillaging. MM a bit

IT units approach Oka

1.1655AD
good news, we actually make double the culture of the rest inculding Iro :)
start prebuild in Kyoto, start some leathernecks
Shimoniseki riot, though MM was done :smoke:
kill a lot of units near Oka, no leader

2.1660AD
bed31660.jpg

make an army first so we can attack and raze towns

IT more fodder is approaching, build district court and we can build supreme court
Iro land 2 units next to kagoshima

3.1655AD
since we get refining in 2, trade with Sioux, they 421gpt and 70g for corporation
raze Cozhe, clear all other units
change to supreme court in 3, since we got so much cash, rush a few builds

IT refining is in, go for interna combustion which will clear path for many techs
get pentagon message means we have oil :D

4.1670AD
pentagon is expensive, wait for a leader
iron frigattes are very useful bombarding units, we could use more of them
bed31670b.jpg

will rush pentagon next turn, since don't want to waste too many shields, rush cathedral in Oka

5.1675AD
WW sets in, need to up lux to 20% still 2 cities not happy
rush pentagon, the very next attack give us another leader (III)
since we have many *units, build an army, raze Kahwanake

IT we get surpreme court, go for Edisons, that will give 100% science and 2 free techs
finish pentagon

6.1680AD
raze Kiohero, raze neodak..., the southwest is clear of cities now

7.1685AD
see that Sioux got more money again, trade refrigeration for 392gpt and 740g
what I forgot to do last turn, I do now, sell district courts
and we get another leader (IV), go for the most expensive building which helps, a skyscraper
since we razed a lot of land, there are barbs appearing

IT just when Tokyo finishes park, it gets polluted

8.1690AD
Oka is happier now with a scraper
transport some of the workers we got back and start leatherneck attack, with iron frigatte support
they bomb units down to 1hp and leathers attack, raze Kente
since we can attack costal towns, move armies forward inland

IT leatherneck doesn't even get attacked, Iro keep on sending units to Oka to be eaten up

9.1695AD
raze Kawauka, attack Akwesanse with leathers, but 1 unit left

10.1700AD
raze Skannayutenate, we raze Akwesasne and Magellan, wasn't confident we could hold the city
grab the workers and ship them home, also our necks need some rest, there is another clipper to pick up the landed
neck if it survives
maybe we should start to settle iro land, next player to decide, but we need to build units

Celts seem to have money again, we could trade some techs. internal combustion in next turn
Edisons in 10, so watch out for tech builds, SoL in 9
there are some bank builds, since we want stock exchanges (have built 1 so far)
next player can use our handsome money to rush builds

Iro land situation

2 more good news

bed31700b.jpg

bed31700c.jpg

Wow... so many leaders in one turn!! Picture perfect on War mongering :)

I guess i am up.

Should i make peace with Iro's???
Looks like we have some WW issues and since half Iro's island became virgin land we probably fine for now and can leave him alone.
How many turn have we left until all our MAs against him expire?

some suggestions and recommendations please.
I will play tonight or worst case scenario tomorrow.

actually we run at 80/20% right now, its still manageable. I didn't even bother to check on our alliances, but you should be able to make peace soo. I suggest to build a few settlers so we can claim land before they do.
there is an oil source now empty, but Iro have another one :(

edit: I lost 1 kensai during my turns, they beat those units so easily and creat a lot of leaders. i did not ship any new units to Oka, wasn't needed at all

 ThERat!

If you look at the size of the Iro cities, they certainly will be little threat for a great while. The war objective was leaderfishing (success) and getting workers (not so much). Although we got 8 on the first turn of the war, we only got another three or four on my turns. The risk that led me to avoid war before was of Iro buying in our allies on their side. Judging from their city size, they are unlikely to have the economy to do that, so I went ahead with war.

Again, looking at the city size, razing those cities won't generate tons of workers now anyway, so war doesn't gain a whole lot, except yet more leaders. We could of course start developing former Iro land, if you feel like some more MM. :)

One note: Kyoto/Satsuma needs a Sewer System to reach it's full potential. And don't forget all the tourism Kyoto makes gets multiplied by sci/tax boosters. Edison's is a LOT of shields. Make sure to compare it to the alternatives.

That's what i thought looking on Iro's cities.. They are so small and certainly won't be any good for worker farming.

I see incense and dyes we can grab on Iro's continent.
Are those luxuries in RaR? In such case we can just grab them even if we have them already.

we got around 2-3 workers per town razed, sometimes 1 only, so I think I sent back around 10-15 workers so far, not too bad actually.
edison takes 14 turns and our research seems to take around 7-9 turns per tech, so I calculated it's quite good to get it in 14 and get 2 techs (cost =15 turns) for free

Good work. I agree with Edison's. I also agree with Peace now for a while. We may consider disbanding some of our military as our railnet gets more complete.

What happened here? I leave, and you all decide to start having fun? Though I noticed that rosters weren't posted by anyone, so I guess my guiding hand was still here, in one form.

@bed_head: Check Bed04, there is a roster waiting for you ;)

Edison's would build faster with a Sewer System and Prison in Kyoto. Prison can be shortrushed cheaply to get it in one turn.

Pre-turn:
Sold corporation to Celts for 263Gold and 112GPT.
Our MA with Sioux against Iros expires next turn.
Celts are not at war.
I changed Nagoya from leatherneck to windmill. Since this is our Iron works city i think it would be better if we start building production boosters there instead of military. As it usually happens everytime when game is passed
to me from Rat i have $$$$ of cash... Time to spend it
Changing production around the country for peace time. mostly switching l-necks to production boosters.

Wow!!! Iron Frigates are huge :) .
So we are building Statue of Liberty. C-Pedia says it will make 2 people unhappy in cities with slave markets.
Are we planning to sell slave markets anytime soon?
Finally decide to hit next turn.

IBT. Lost one Samurai.
Internal combustion comes switch to Mass Production. Bizen bank->academy; Larry park->bank; nara univercity->factory.
Yokohama factory->skyscraper; Sapporo coal plant->park; Nagoya wind mill->forge; Echizen laborer->laborer;

T1. 1701AD. Killed bunch of Iro's horses. Ended the MA with Sioux. Sold them immediately refining for 272gpt and extended trade embargo against Iro's for another 20 turns.. Rushed colonist in oka
Make peace with Iro's they give us 10shiny gold and a town of Iyekundo. WW is gone, sci slider is back to 100% and we
will get Mass Production in 6

IBT. 2 deals with celts expire. I canceled RoP and sold them refining for Tropical fruit and 50GPT;
Tenochitlan library->academy; Sado major port->windmill

T2. 1702AD. Rushed few building. Ready to buld another city on Iro's continent.

IBT. Another deal with Celts expired which i more than happy to extend.

T3. 1703... Getting frustrated with slowliness of our workers :-)
Founded another city on Iro's land. Now we have 3 over there.

IBT. Iro's and Sioux signed peace treaty.

T4-6. 1704, 1705, 1706 - NOthing really

IBT. Mass production comes switch to marxism in 5 turns.

T7. I decide to do a little wonder shaffle. I switch Kyoto from Edison's to Crystal in 6turns and Satsuma from Statue of Liberty to Edison's also in 6. That will help us to get Marxism and museums in time then stop research for one turn and get 2 freebies from Edison's.

T8-10. 1708-1710 Quite un-eventful. Just planted another yet city on Iro's continent.

Post-turn: I haven't noticed we have one skyscraper already and started building 3 more.
I switched Fukushima to Universal Suffrage and it can be used for the Empire State building pre-build.tate buildng.
All my builds were mostly scientific and production boosters with exception of
cities on Iro's continent. Rushed several culture generating builds for borders to expand. We probably should build another city over there to grabe wines and coal.
Trades with both Celts and Sioux are available. I left it for the next person to decide.

Too late... We have 3 turns for both Crystal palace and Edisson in Kyoto and Satsuma. Didn't know sewer prison trick

Build the Empire state building in Satsuma or Kyoto. The Empire state building has the colossus effect, and we want to use it in one of our best cities.

Romeo,
I believe you are up in this game that doesn't believe in rosters. :)
