Good questions, Romeo.

i only have a couple of questions/comments.
1) Why are we building district courts, I thought we already had the Supreme court?

I explained this one. District courts are efective in addition to local courts. Fuku just needs a little boost to get to 140 spt and two turn tanks. Maybe a better use would be 3 turn armies.
2) Did we build the Conglomerate yet? We need 3 corporate offices. I would build it in Satsuma.
Kyoto has over twice the commerce of Satsuma, so I'd rather see commerce/sci/tax boosters there. The Skyscraper can be a Cong prebuild, but we'll need to switch some builds elsewhere to corp offices. I'm pretty confident you will see the wisdom of soc dem, but Cong is worth it for the short term.
3) Is skyscraper in Kyoto a prebuild for anything, or are we just improving our econ? We already have the Empire state building.
4) Are we prebuilding the Spirit of St Louis in Satsuma? I think we should.
This will be a good idea fairly soon, although I've been going down the tank path to make sure we get there first, and I'd like to get to totalitarianism (building the LoN beforehand) before going on the aviation path, so we can make sure to get Echelon.

IT Kyoto hit by pollution

2.1744AD
clean pollution, reduce science to 70% since we get tanks next turn, adv metal is known by Sioux

IT renew lux deal with Sioux, get tank warfare, go for total war since we want police stations

3.1745AD
change some builds to corporate office so we can build conglomerate

IT renew iron deal with Sioux for 112gpt

4.1746AD
many builds finish and we switch to tanks, switch Kyoto to conglomerate in 1
build 2 airfields for faster transport
give celts flight for 400g and 290gpt

IT we get conglomerate

5.1747AD
building tanks

6.1748AD
shipping over 8 tanks, next turn we can start to steam roll

7.1749AD
declare on Iro and get Celts and Sioux in
celts need tank warfare, but give music theory, 74gpt and 180g
Sioux get music theory to ally
reduce science to 30% since total war in 1, we make a whopping 2967gpt
take Oil springs get a leader, form army

IT get total war, change to totaliarism in 5 for echelon

8. 1750AD
capture Akwesasne
raze 2 towns and we have a corridor in Iro land
we should build some defenders too and settlers
Satsuma could be changd to LoN, if anyone desires that
I thought we go for space thus don't need it

more good news for d-man, left you some money to spend (9800g in the kitty)
bad news: pollution sometimes screws up the perfect 140spt, annoying

hope I chose the right techs, sorry that I build conglomerate in Kyoto, but its a monster city thats for sure

The thing Romeo might be mising is the tourism in Kyoto? Not sure why he wants to keep going for Satsuma. We need to build LoN (very cheap anyway) to prevent the AI from getting it and getting a cheap win. When buying in other civs to war, if you pay in gpt, then get the gpt back for tech, you get to keep the gpt even if they make peace prematurely. The other way, you don't.

Good call on airfields - airports are WAY too pricey, with a huge upkeep.

With tanks, Crazy Horse and Brennus should be able to make headway now in the Iro mainland. Let's hope they don't make too much headway.

I just like getting multiple commerce boni in the same city. I was thinking we could get 3 or 4 in one city, and then have the other science and commerce boni count in. That way the payoff is initally smaller, but it gets larger as you get more and more +1 commerce boni.
This is like the example that is commonly given in economics. Would you rather have 1 million bucks, or take a penny on the first day, and every day after that it is doubled.
It is like taking the doubling amount of money every day for a month vs the Million bucks. It takes 27 days to get a million bucks, but at the end of the month there is no comparison.

Romeo, you're missing the point. We've already implemented the strategy you suggest, I'm just pointing out that we have done so in Kyoto more so than in Satsuma. Every sci/tax booster we build in Kyoto goes further, as does any commerce booster, as we already have several extra sci/tax boosters there and more tourism than Satsuma can ever compete with.

I was pushing Satsuma because of the International port being there, (Commercial dock), we could theoretically build Lady Liberty there, and we could build a real commercial dock, 3 things that Kyoto could never get. I am seeing that now we should maybe just stack stuff in Kyoto, but I had high hopes for Satsuma.

I have it...

Good points, Romeo, that's why I like a coastal capital. The problem with Satsuma was the lack of a food bonus (basically, our overall problem). Without that, you'll never get a mega-city started in time. With as much tourism as we did get in our capital (not as much as I'd like, but a significant amount), Satsuma could never compete with Kyoto, even with the coastal stuff.

BTW, I think Lady Liberty was built by Crazy Horse.

I will finally have time to play today.
I've loaded the save and it is not clear what tech path i should choose.
Where do i go after totalitarism?
We can build Sheakspear's.. Looks like a good wonder with 0maint. lots of culture and becomes tourist attraction. Perfect build for Kyoto, or not?

What are your ideas? I'd say aviation to get Spirit of St. Louis, but you might find something better. :) The big impact of Shakes is the free early Sewer System. Don't need that now, so it is lower priority. Could build it in a Ishimi (can't remember the name, just north of Yokohama), as he needs a litle more happiness for WLTK.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to get LoN before research on total completes.:IMPORTANT

pre-turn: money-money-money-money, I love money (immitating voice of Mr. Krubs from SpongeBob Square pants series)
Rushed coal plant in Nagoya. Switch Kyoto to Shakespeare's in 4 turns. Nara to LoN in 2 turns. Rushed few more builds.
We will need more airfields on our main continent, will do it next turn.
Give Sioux Tank Warfare in exchange of Adv. Metallurgy. Trade Adv. Metall. to Celts for 110Gold and 55gpt
Wow, we can build Dreadnaughts now.. I just have to have couple of those toys :-)

IBT. Yep, we need some dreadnaughts... lots of navy battles.. We sank 3 Iro's AoFs and lost one Iron Frigate.
Lots, and i mean it lots of Iro's forces are coming our way. I will probably have to forget about attack actions for the first few turns until I take care of insurgency.
Many builds completed. THose worth mentioning Nagoya coal plant->Iron Works.

T1. 1751AD I built 3 more airfields on our main land. What is worker camp??? I think i broke it when i built an airfield. It was outside of all city limits and i am not sure what that means and how to buid it. Razed Salamanca.
I am not quite sure what else to do.. I will wait may be a turn or two... Airlifted 3 MarkIVs and a settler.

IBT. Lost another Iron Frigate. Iro's have surprisingly large navy. They also have suprisingly large ground forces.
Iro's horses are all over the place...
LoN has been completed in Nara.. Shoud i vote for UN?! :-)

T2. 1752. Founded town of Omi. Killed bunch of Iro's cavalry. Deal with Sioux on wine expired... I sold them Total war for 514gpt and give them wine again to make them happy

IBT. More navy battles

T3. 1753AD Many elite wins and one of them yielded a leader. i wanted to create army but then rushed Holy city in Izumo.

IBT. One thing i learned- Iro's aren't shy attacking our tanks and killing them.. Lost two Mark IV to Iro's cavalry.
Shakespeare's is completed in Kyoto

T4. 1754AD. Lots of navy and land battles.

IBT: WW hits us.. Nara and Suo in riot.. WLTKD are not celebrated anylonger.

T5. 1755AD. Push lux slider to 20%. More battles Razed couple of cities

IBT. Totalitarism comes. Switch to radio in 5.

T6. 1756. war war war.

T7. 1757.. Can't believe it... AIs actually do use armies in RaR.. Although in a strange way.. Sieging Iro's capital and there they are - armies fortified inside.. Killed 3 and there are still more left for the next turn.

IBT. Pollution hits in 4 different places.

T8. 1758. Captured Iro;s capital. They have had total of 7 armies inside.

IBT. Pollution hits again. Wonderland is built in Satsuma... Message says: "Sioux are building Einstein Lab".

T9. 1759. Going to Sioux... Sold them Totalitarianism and luxes for ToR + 231gpt + some gold. Celts seem to be bancrupt. So i gifted them some luxes to get their economy going. Switched Kyoto to Einstein Lab in 11 turns.
Captured St. Regis with Sun-Tzu.. I am not sure if we need that wonder, so next player feel free to abandon the city.
I think at this moment we should slow down with expansion since we already control 43% of land mass.
We also have big enough army and paying 580gpt unit support. I switching back to civilian builds in most of our cities.

IBT. Something you guys warned me about happened. Iro's sent all they have to reclaim St. regis... I didn't loose units but have couple of redlined tank armies.

T10. 1760AD Razed Leh. Left many troops and workers with moves left. Please check all the front-line cities...
There are bunch of units fortified there. Also, i wasn't sure what to build in Satsuma.
Celts have money can sell them tech for gpt.
Sorry no pictures attached. It is 1:30am and i need to get some sleep :) . May be someone can do it, perhaps???. Only now noticed Bezhukov's advice on Shakespear's location.... sorry about that. I built it in Kyoto.

as requested a few screenies

we have expanded very very fast in the new land
bed31760a.jpg

our homeland in good shape

this says more than 1000 words, look at the increase in the end

Thanks for the pics TheRat! :)
I was too tired yesterday.

Good show, Dman!

Let's try to take Allegheny and Centralia to narrow the front with Iros. As if I needed to tell Romeo that. May want to slow down on the tech sales to Sioux - they might launch on us if we're not careful!

Fuku does not need a Sewer, and I'm not big on Opera Houses anywhere.

I knew that, it's just those cities ran out of construction projects and i didn't want to build anymore military. :)

I will do my best to reduce our military spending costs. I will also attempt to put up a ton of buildings increasing our commerce.
We can merge in some native workers, and I will try it in some corrupt towns. I forsee some spending sprees akin to drunken sailors on shore leave.

I am not good at RaR but i wouldn't do that...
We need twice as many workers to get our land in order. (rails/clearing marshes/jungles)
We need twice as many workers to fight those nasty pollution patches that pop-up every single turns.
These broken workers is the worst part of this game.
