Before hitting the Enter Key the first time..

Just like in Civ III, make sure that you go to your science advisor and pick which tech you want to research before you hit the Enter key to go to the second turn of the game. This will save you at least one turn before you get your first tech. Every little bit helps.

Are you sure it doesn't store thos points and apply them? Almost everything else in the game works this way.

Not sure. I thought that was only points that were already generated would carry over to your next item. Since you haven't yet made any points right after you found your first city, I don't think it would go backwards. Will have to check later tonight, at work right now and getting ready to go home for the day.

I have checked this, and you DO NOT have to select your starting technology before ending your first turn. All research will still go into your first technology.

@Kolson - Thanks for checking. That is great. I would get kind of mad at myself when I forgot to do that in CIV III.

I always hated that about Civ 3. It was like the game's little way of reminding you at the beginning to micro-manage EVERYTHING! or DIE!
