Out of all the 31 Civs in C3C, which is your favorite, and why?

My favorite Civ is the Iroquois. Their Agricultural trait allows for a greater population growth, and in turn leads to better expansion. Their Commercial trait decreases corruption allowing them to better control a large Empire. They start with Alphabet and pottery, which are valuable techs in trade, and allow earlier acquisitions of important techs. And their Mounted warriors are very deadly. They can move quickly and overwhelm most city garrisons, even though they may have trouble against Hoplites and Numidian Mercenaries.

Other close ones are:
The Mayans, good traits, and good UU.

The Vikings, especially if on archipelago, and a unit with 6 attack before the advent of cavalry is good, too.

i like being the chinese and persians.

military and industrious is awesome if you like going to war.

persia is fun to build up than go to war way later on in the game.

The Celts are are great.

But as always, the choice of tribes is depending on what victory consition you want.

I always find this remark funny, because I always go for conquest/domination. Build up, pummel an opponent, prepare for the next war.

I am talking from the point of a HoF gamer. From your point of view, I'd definately go with the Celts (or maybe the Iroquios).

Not sure Calis, but maybe Theov found your comment funny, because it sounded like you stuttered:

One can argue that their greatness deserves such stuttering, I suppose.

Persia is good for an early-game domination, due to its stats. The Sipahi is the only pre-industrial unit that can defeat a tank with ease. The Berserk is strong.

Well obviously, the Byzantines :)
On an archipelago map, they only need to fear Carthage and the English Man-of-war.
They get great science, and cheap harbours and libraries makes for a good peaceful civ, just how I like it.
Also, their sea dominance means they can harrass the Ottomans and Arabs if they go too close to the sea, keeping them inland.
However, on a Pangaea map, they're useless, unless you are amazing with running ahead in tech.
On a Continents map, early (swords) war is needed to clear your continent, so the Dromon can defend you as it should.

But, if I have to have another fave, it's the Mayans- super production and growth.

I've only been playing civ III for a few months now, so I don't feel acquainted enough with the game to make this decision, however, I've had decent luck with the Celts, Persians, and Babylonians.

Well, if we are going for pure score, the HoF gives good evidence that the Maya are the best, or among the best out there.

If I go by what I like to play, then it is the Ottomans. The Sipahi is just too much fun, and Ind/Sci is my favorite trait combination. Persia is also ind/sci, and immortals probably get a better score overall, but I still prefer Ottomans.

Oh yes, Sipahi are fun to play alright...
I just cannot stand them being called the Ottomans, or having that filthy capital name- which actually wasn't the city's name until 1923 (under Ataturk)!
I re-name the city Samarkhand them as the Timurlane Turks :)
Much easier- I don't feel like a traitor.

You Greek or something? The Byzantines are already using Constantinople, and I think Byzantium is on the Roman or Greek city list.

:) :):):):):):)
That's the best thing I've heard all year. No, I'm English, but I study Roman history. Unfortunately, I find the Romans to be WAY too powerful in C3C, so the Byzantines are better for me.
Also, they lasted longer than the West Romans. Just think... if there hadn't been wars because of religion after the 7th Century, East Rome could still be alive and well now... :(
Byzantium is a Greek city in civ.

Greek... so funny!

Hey guys,

You know Thunderfall is a REAL city in Scandinavia. I've been there. It's a beautiful place. You should travel there sometime. Just sayin'! (I mean this all in good humor, of course. The discussion about city names DOES have something to it.)
