Best Civ?

I am aware that it's still an AWS, but - as I said - on an island AWS the Incans are as good as any other civ.

It seems that i misunderstood you here:

Always war with the Inca on Sid? I'd like to see that.
You won't see that with any other civ either.

To me, your reply would suggest that there aren't any AWS, which is obviously wrong. But if you had something else in mind, then my objection would be off-mark.

No, not quite since they don't start with Bronze Working or Alphabet. That said, I do agree that Sid pangea AW would come as much more impressive than an archipelago map where you have your landmass to yourself.

With careful map selection it should probably be possible on a Pangaea... You would need to start on a peninsula with a small choke point, get catapults relatively quickly, and ping down anything that attacks for a very high kill/loss ratio. Farm for leaders, and then go out with armies and pillage and take cities as usual with AW. You would have to watch the tech pace, since it will be quite quick on a Pangaea map. An SGL for the great library would help a lot. So would an early good UU, like the Iros. Still very difficult, but it could be done! Not that I'm volunteering or anything .

Yes i meant for if you are going for the conquest victory on pangea it could also work on continents if you want to own the whole continent but on the islands they are useless because no goodie huts or civs to stop i'd rather have a seafaring civ on islands map like byzantines. Yeah i mean the difficulty under sid deity i tried on sid but they get 2 settlers and workers and pump out way too many archers early so you would have to get lucky to find and capture their unprotected settlers then you still have to rush your scouts to keep up but on monarchy or the difficulty above it it is a very good method as your guaranteed to at least slow their growth down til you can settle your cities then you usually have way more power then any other civ just with your scouts and so you can take all their techs if you want to peace treaty or gold. If you control the luxuries odds are you will win the game. The more difficult the level the more luxury you need to keep them happy or just set science to 10 and happy bar to 90 while at war.

Ive played some of my best games as the Dutch, Greeks, and Carthaginians. I hate playing defense so these civs great defensive units help me out so i can focus on other things like taking cities, culture, and being a boss

The French. Commercial and industrious are my favourite traits (although expansionist is probably the most fun), I'm a builder and musketeers come at a great time for a GA. I typically start a game by attacking the first enemy I find with warriors and archers and leaving only their capital. After that, I'll start new wars with them to take their new cities and workers before finally getting rid of them in the early MA. In the meantime I do the republic catapult, so if all goes to plan I'll be in a great position in the MA in terms of technology and size, and from there I can build my way to a spaceship victory- starting wars when I need resources, luxuries or just a bigger empire. The Frogs have always served me well for this strategy :king:

Other civs I'll play often are the English (because I am), the Koreans (because I live in SK) and the Chinese (I'm fascinated by China).

Before the French (back when I played PTW) my favourite was the English for the Exp/Com trait combination. I love expansionist for the early lead you can get. Before the English, the Russians. I used to rate the scientific trait more back then, but that was before I'd figured the game out and realised how beneficial commercial is for a large empire

Persians are the best civ because the Immortals happen as soon as I get Iron ore and then I can produce them fast and kill everybody! They sucked in civ 4 but in 3 they were the best. Also I have studied the persian empire and they were one of the most respectful and were never mean. They were regarded as liberators instead of conquerors.

Berserks Are so powerfull but it's slow to make and I love the vikings and have studied all I can on the mythology and have all of the stories.

I like Njord/Tyr/Loki/Odin

I agree with all you say except about Civ 4. Persia is a powerful Civ in 4 as well as 3. Immortal isn't as strong in 4 but is still a solid UU. UB is good with good traits in IV (either leader).

I've always enjoyed playing the French and my best games come with them. I like the Alphabet starting tech and both traits are good. UU isn't great but at least I don't get an AA golden age. If only Joan wasn't bald in the modern age! Although for the best Civ I'd have to go with the Maya on most maps.

In my opinion, the greeks. Strong defensive unit (Hoplite) for early wars that can be build without resources, cheap science city improvements, one tech advance for free after you change to another age, and easier to get a science leader (to rush a great wonder) after you are the first to research a new tech. A very good package.

its very situational.
last game was with the celts, i got for my first time BRENNUS THE MAGNIFICENT.
The persians can win in just 2 ages, because of their inmortals, they are just amazing
germans, my brother love them, u can rush in the industrial age and conquer or dominate
cartaghe, well, for me theyre the best for domination and for space race, they can start early wars with the numidian mercenary
