Greetings

I know there are many threads like this one but as the is a new DLC for Civ 5, this is somewhat new.

I'm looking for to buy a strategy game and Civilization series is what I'm looking for exactly. The only problems that stands between me and that purchase button is "Which game?"

I'm not really into Civ 1,2,3 so leave them out of this. I'm not a graphic whore but....

Anyways to the question: Should I buy Civilization 4 (with all the expansions) or Civilization 5 (with all the expansions including the new DLC)

Thanks for the help :)

Just check the earlier threads. They tend to devolve into heated arguments because each has their devoted fans, but you can surely find the answers there.

Nah, just look at the last pages and you will see fresh arguing from people with all the DLCs.

I actually tried to do that, I ended up ether seeing that a moderator had closed the thread or that the last post was in 2012.

Yeah, I'm a bit annoyed - but it's not because of you, it's because this is something that's prone to attract heated arguments...

Edit: message deleted, wrong topic

I would argue that Civ V with both expansions, or even just with Gods and Kings is better because of the MUCH improved combat system and because it pulls off most of the features of Civ IV better (with the possible exception of happiness). It took me a while, but now I get the same feeling I get playing Civ V as I do Civ IV, and it feels more streamlined.

Civ 5 because civilisations are far more diversified here. In other Civ games only a unique building and/or unit made the civs different, aside from starting techs and leader traits (both of which were not unique).

Gods & Kings also finally made the mechanics interesting. Brave New World made everything awesome.

I didn't like civ 5 more then civ 4 until brave new world came out.

At release I liked civ 4 more then 5. When gods and kings came out I still had a slight preference for 4 but I liked the systems G&K brought in.

I really would like 5 to get one more expansion for corporations and maybe some other stuff so it doesn't feel tiny. I loved my corporation spam in civ 4.

If you don't have either and don't have a preference buy 4 because it's much cheaper. Wait for a full on sale of 5, there will surely be one by christmas time.

The problem is each game tried to fix a weakness of the previous game and left out some of the great and added in some terrible. So they all have their niches.

Civilization 2 for example has overall the best trade. After Civilization 2 trade was heavily automatic. Brave New World sort of brings it back but not to the crazy extent that Civ 2 had.
