What Scenarios are good for MP/PBEM. Some of the ones that come with Conquests and C3C aren't particularly balanced, though I haven't played them all yet.

The one I'm using most at the moment is a medium map with FOUR cotinents !!!! It also has 2 islands. I initially created the map taking 2 continents from a large map plus the section from a medium pangaea map that I started on, then I added a 4th continent which I modified/extended to balance it a bit. 
I try to balance and give realism (difficult but I give preference to balance) to most of my scenarii with PBEM in mind (more than in SP mode as the AI is not so good dealing with special units).
