Best E-mail hosting-site-place...

Clearly not obvious since otherwise everyone would prefer them...

What if the people who don't prefer them aren't very well informed? Or have completely different needs? And even when something is really good, it's not like everyone prefers it, but it might be obvious from direct comparison between that and another service.

Anyways, it's not like I know what I am talking about. I just mentioned mail.nu because I like it and gmail because everyone else seems to... like it.

Hotmail and Netscape are very equal. Other than their styling, I cannot tell the difference between them.

Yahoo has a few extra touches but the client-side coding is poorly done which anoys me. Gmail is faster which is probably more appreciated by narrowband users, but doesn't work in old browsers.

I would blow them all away, but I don't have the hardware or location :p

what interests me is if there is a freemail-hosting-site that allows to access the mails by IMAP?

Well Gmail says that they currently do not support IMAP. However it does sound like they might in the future.

I would say Gmail, but their "sorry-no-support-for-Opera" really ticked me off (Bottom line: I'm waiting for Opera 7.60). And I would say Yahoo Mail, except they've started to send Opera a really crappy stylesheet (renders horribly) to Opera users only, making my experience hellish. I now have to use Firefox to access both services.

Therefore, I hate them both. :ar15:

IF GMAIL AND THE ANCIENT CITY OF BABYLON GOT IN A FIGHT....

Gmail would win.

Case closed.

Why do you need to test it?

Anyway hotmail just committed suicide by deciding to declare any PBEM save as a virus unless its zipped. Time to start using Gmail...

1. Gmail
2. Yahoo
3. Excite
999. Hotmail

I signed up for hotmail for a MSN account and I don't think I've ever checked my email..

I must agree. The labels feature is the best(besides the 1GB of space). I use it so much. :D

I like Yahoo's. Gmail is alright. Don't use hotmail too much anymore.

I really like for my email to have a POP3 access, so you'd think Gmail would be the way to go for me. But I've been so used to Yahoo's web interface that I'll stick with that.

Heh, I have to agree. I got Yahoo Mail Plus (mostly for its disposable addresses) and it comes with POP3 access. But I'm so used to Yahoo's web interface that I soon stopped using M2 for my emails and just use the web access.
