No, you need 4 followers per city.

Actually Tithe is far better than that. Testing it out tonight it appears that it's based simply off your total number of followers across all cities, it doesn't have to have a minimum of four per city just to get a 1g bonus.

City #1: 6 Followers
City #2: 4 Followers
Cities #3 & 4: 3 Followers
Cities #5 & 6: 2 Followers
City #7: 1 Follower

So if it were 4 minimum per city I'd only be receiving gold from the first 2 cities at 2g total.

But instead im gaining 5g per turn from religion (tithe is my only gold granting religious bonus) and that fits if you take the total number of followers across all cities added up which is 21 (which when rounded down to the nearest multiple of 4 is 20 or 5g per 4 followers).

How about Interfaith Dialogue? Combine it with the further spread and you get a lot of beakers to out tech nearly everyone (granted, you have to wait for another civ to found a religion). If you're Byzantium, get it and Tithes and you can probably buy your way to the Future!

Apparently Tithe is THE option to choose, I will certainly give it a try in a couple of my next games.

I find the choices for a pantheon quite situation specific, and like to experiment with the different possibilities. One of these is certainly worth sharing:

I played as the Dutch on a tilted axis world on King level. My first settlers started on a peninsula consisting of flood plains and desert hills. With the Dutch being able to build polders eventually I wasn't all too worried and founded Amsterdam.

Choosing the '+1 faith from deserts' pantheon was a no-brainer. Every worked tile yielded one point of faith. I didn't even have to rush to be the first founder of a religion. Choosing holy warriors was the next best thing to do, giving my cities the opportunity to just create buildings while buying units with faith. By the time this option became obsolete, I already controlled half of the world

Tithe is easily the best; I always pick it. And you can go very wide as well as tall. I like to choose either Religious Texts or Itinerant Preachers as my enhancer and the religion spreads everywhere. I played a game as Theodora and managed to get both enhancers as well as Tithe. Talk about a jackpot.

Church property is better for early advantage, but Tithe is better in the long run.

Im having a hard time deciding between what is best if going for gold. Church property or Tithe.
So far i have been picking up tithe, but im starting to lean more towards church property because it means more gold earlier. Also thinking a bit about multiplayer..
