Most mods don't work with mac, and the 2 mods I have gotten to work have had severe crashing issues. What mods would you reccomend for mac users, or am I better served avoiding them entirely?

The part, which fails on mac is dll files. This mean if a mod has Assets/CvGameCoreDLL.dll, then it won't work. All other mods should work. The reason for this issue is that the mac port is a particularly poor one and is aimed at a quick release for vanilla while sacrificing modding capabilities and there is nothing modders can do about it. It's not a matter of adding a dylib (the mac version of dll files). The game simply lost the ability to look for them.

Sadly all the great modifications are done in the dll file. This mean to get good mods up and running, you should run the windows version, which is doable in bootcamp, parallels, wine or similar. Sadly all of those options have sideeffects and only bootcamp will make the game run as efficient as a proper port is supposed to run.

This is not a problem with mac gaming as such. It's a problem with the civ4 port specifically. There are plenty of games available today where mods with dll files runs equally well on mac, windows and linux (well equally enough to not be a problem).
