best pop up killer?

Hmmmm, let's see. The new version of Opera now displays ESPN.com correctly, which was the only website that has ever been displayed incorrectly out of hundreds that I've visited on the old version. The google search bar and the quick-navigation mouse movements are great features that IE doesn't have. Plus, Opera doesn't seem to have the need to automatically download new toolbars every 10 days or so which I then have to delete off my system. All this in addition to the automatic pop-up killer, which puts popups in the background even if it's not activated. Not to mention the auto picture scaling, although in IE's defense, I'm willing to bet that feature can be deactivated. Oh, and Opera crashes MUCH less frequently and loads pages faster, both cold and from cache.

IE may have a slightly higher success rate in displaying pages, and I will concede that it is much better at storing and remembering passwords, but the much lower annoyance factor and overall ease of use of Opera makes it the much better browser over all. I can't comment on Mozilla as I've never used it.

come on - hands down IE is best- only browser seriously optimized for newest generation of processors. I mean MMX and SSE.
there is no page that doesn't work with IE. i used to like netscape, but with each next one they are more and more falling behind.

not quite true Civddict -
1) Opera has a fresh new look that IE can't compete with (default skin that is).
2) Opera reads HTML perfectly - it is the web designer's fault for using unofficial tags - mainly the centering tags from what I have seen.
3) Opera 7.01 beats NetScape when using Java - I had problems on NS with Java but not Opera. MS is stripping Java from IE since it doesn't like the competition from Sun.
4) Opera can remember passwords on pages that IE will NOT let you remember passwords on (I am guessing this has to do with HTML "security" that only IE reads cause it isn't standardized).
5) Opera seems to have the same speed as IE for opening pages IMO and is faster than NS.
6) Mozilla is very similar to NS (since NS uses Mozilla as does IE but a way older and much modified version) but has less options and some different less useful (for me) ones.
7) Opera will let you open windows within the same window or have them all maximized and selectable by tabs. NS will not allow windows in the main window, only tabs.
8) Opera starts up faster than NS (without the NS quickload enabled) but not as fast as IE.
9) The way NS shrinks it's bars (by clicking the little up or right arrows on the left side) is copied by none - is a nice feature. It easily allows more visual space without getting rid of everything

Civddict: The best browser that lets a web server execute arbitrary code on your machine. Umm......rrrright.

As for being 'optimized for the next generation of processors' hmm.....I'm pretty damn sure the entire thing would be written in C++. Then they compiled it with MSVC++. Mozilla is written in C++ too, and can be compiled using Intel's C++ compiler, which produces faster code than MSVC++, that *is* optimized heavily for Intel architecture.

MMX is part of the 'newest generation of processor'? It's been around since about 1996...

By the way, I use IE too, and prefer it
