I am experimenting with some new starts and I would like some advice. I'd like to find out what I'm doing right or wrong in this game. I've played it from 4000 BC, and the best score I come up with is 463. Seems like I should be able to do more. Please give this a spin, and let me know what you did during your time. Thanks!

I forgot to mention that this is a Vanilla Civ game, not Warlords. And, even if you could just open the initial save file and let me know what you might do the first several turns as far as units, techs, etc.

Here is an image of my Roman Empire in 200AD from a replay.

I won this game by domination in the 1200sAD for 150,000 points. Monarch, Epic. Score at 200AD was around 900.

I started out with going for Bronze Working followed by Iron Working. I founded my second city north (note: Rome is the southernmost city) toward (then) England. Not anymore. My third city came out just as IW completed. Unfortunately I had to place it in a very bad spot to get a quick Iron(east of capital). I then built barracks in the cities then tons of Praets. I went in and Razed 2 British cities and kept 3. then a war ensued against in sequence Alex/Huayana/Alex/Napoleon/Stalin. I wiped out the Inca, and vassalized the last 2 cities of France and Greece. I was in the middle of killing Stalin when Domination triggered. There are some people who have certainly gotten faster and better than me, but I think that that is respectable.

EDIT:

If you want to get a higher score duel map with balanced setting and simply rush. But then what is the point in playing against AI's on a small map where you can steam roll over an opponent. Seems like all the fun would be taken out of it.

That's why I don't play on Monarch anymore.;) No steamrolling on Immortal.
