No more complaining about the different civs. What is the thing (based on CivRules thread) that you are most looking foward to in Civ4 and why?

I begin with... Religions causing nations to like / dislike each other because I think it will allow for some interesting diplomacy.

more types of resources, should add variety.
also, the ability (suuposedly) to group together workers, which was probably
the single greatest weakness of cvi3.
oh yeah, and the abandonement of pollution. i guess a health meter is more realistic although they will have to factor in global-warming somehow.

This year global-warming doesn't exist. We had a pretty cold winter in Europe.

The consequences of having a cold winter were:

Gas bills were higher.
Beer expenses were also higher.
Less veggies in the market, more pricey, less veggies in the dish.
Less fun watching soccer on live.

I wish we had global warming and we could populate Greenland again, like in the XII century, when when the south part of Greenland was green and the global weather was warmer than today's. (Why do you think Greenland has that name?) Then, maybe the Dannish could be a Civ IV civilization. Greenland belongs to Denmark, I think.

They did very well removing the pollution thing and the global-warming fuss. Kyoto treaty sucks. :nono:

you have no understanding of global warming if you think it will make winter go away. for that matter 90% of people that advocate it dont know WTH there talking about :p the real danger of pollutants poured into ecosystem is direct damage and toxicity, not warming

and favourite feature,modability :D

I think the best thing in cIV are the "modibilities" :D .

And of course grouping workers :) .

AND hopefully the screen isn't jumping anymore in multiplayer games when you issued an attack order so you don't get to see your battle results  .
(Or did I miss an update  ).

I'm looking forward to Civics, and better diplomacy! I also await to see how war will be with their new thinking on units (promotions, one value for att/def etc)

I also look forward to the new strategies I'll have to develop to take into account such a super flexible tech tree (like, will I race forward, or branch out?)

Yep, definitely Civics, Religion and Improved Diplomacy are the standout improvements in this upcoming game (based on what I know so far). That said, though, the resource and combat systems also sound a LOT better than before. Of all the things I am looking forward to, though, Modability is very, VERY high on my list :)!

Yours,

Hey here is australia we are in a 7 year drought. It is so bad that scientists are begining to believe that it may be a perminatnt climate change. In fact in 18 mounths sydney is expected to have completely run out of water. I don't know what will happen then. We will probably have to ask the international community to import bottled water for us.

Anyway I look foward to seeing Gandi getting mad at me for being a war mungerer. And having no more coruption.

I think the unit revamp is the best. Promotions sound like an awesome idea. As long as they made it so rifleman can kill swordsman 99 out of 100 then I will be happy.

current game the incas archers and swordsman are the luckiest SOBs I have ever witnessed. The tide is turning now that the death from above has begun!

The civics is my favorite new feature. :)

They are promising better AI. For me, this is more important than everything else put together!

SMAC-style civics!!!! YAAAAY!!

The new 3D graphics! If they pull it off well it could really add more levels to the game, zooming in to the details provides a whole new dimension, a bit of a Settlers feel, without taking away from the overall strategic view. Being able to explore the cities directly through zooming in and seeing what buildings are present and getting a close up view of a battle front (which promises to be much more varied now with the new system), great stuff!

When it comes out, so all the whiners who want the bigger maps and the more civs can do it themselves.

And the diplomacy. That, too.

The fact that it is actually being made and will hit the shelves at the end of the year!

:)
Same here. It would be strange to buy civ5 when there is no civ4.
