Best Voice chat to use?

Hello, I need a recommendation.
My friends and I have been using XFire to chat while playing direct IP games and it works great for about 30 minutes into the game then our voices start breaking up and its difficult to understand each other since Civ4 is taking up more RAM as the game runs probably. How do I escape this bog down issue so that my friends and I can keep chatting clearly to one another?
Questions:
1. Anyone have a way to fix it so XFire chat doesn't bog down?
2. Is there a better online chat that people recommend that doesn't have this bog down issue where the voices break up (teamspeak, rogerwilco, ventrilo)?

I strongly recommend Ventrilo. Fantastic quality and a good client. You can run a server for free but it only supports up to 8 people.

Last time I used teamspeak and ventrillo I found teamspeak to be quite superior to ventrillo.
