Best Wargame You Have Played

No, just the addons, mods, missions, campaigns & other third party stuff.

you'll need to look around for the actual game, it shouldn't cost more than $10-$15. You want to look for Operation Flashpoint GOTY. Do not get the Hero's edition (or Elite, that's for Xbox).

Here's the "buy" page on their official site http://www.bistudio.com/sales.html

If you don't buy stuff online, I suggest you google something like "buy Operation Flashpoint GOTY". To get this game will cost you more effort than money, but it's well worth it.

how about ebay? what I fear though is that when you search cd and dvd there are no way to tell if they are copies except looking at the price...
i'll try to find it downtown..i'm going tomorrow..

Sorry, I wouldn't have a clue. But I wouldn't fork out a cent for the game unles it comes with the original manuals (the manuals hold the CD key) and case(s).

I bought mine 4 years ago and the Resistance expansion 2 years ago, cost me $150 all together (I still believe it's worth it), but I tried looking for GOTY last year and couldn't find it for sale anywhere in Brisbane.

You'll need the help of someone who can easeilly find things for sale. It's a department where I'm lacking.

Me and a couple of pals still play Panzerblitz/PanzerLeader by mail and e-mail
and are looking for some reliable players if anyone is interested. Please let
me know if you are ;) .

SOLDIERS - Heros of Worldwar 2

Awesome RTS / Commandos romp
Hidiously underated. Great fantasic fun if a little unforgiving

I'm more of an empire builder then a war monger, but one of my favorites is Medieval: Total War. For those who don't know it, it consists of two parts:

The strategic part looks a bit like Risk. It's a map with a lot of provinces, and you can move your armies around, build up tech in your provinces, train soldiers etc. This part is turn-based.

Whenever two different armies (your and someone else's) happen to be in the same province you enter the tactical part of the game, where you can fight the battle in real time.

AFAIK, this applies to Shogun: Total War and Rome: Total War as well, but I've never tried them.

MTW takes place in Europe and the Mediterranean, between 1087 and 1453, IIRC.

777: I tried it a couple of times on my old computer but it didn't work for some reason. I might give it another go on this computer at some point. :)

I tried to run it with XP in DosBox but weird thing was that when I tried to scroll map with mouse it was horribly slow. Shame 'cos it seems to be cool game. Too many times I've seen beaches of Normandy so it's time to move forward :D

I downloaded yesterday WinSPMBT, much better than DOS version of Main Battle Tank. Woth of trying, really! I've hooked now in battle Finland vs. Poland at '93, looks like we're at upper hand :D

This game would be interesting to try against human opponent, if somebody is willing to be punished :groucho:

Advanced Squad Leader (ASL). WWII tactical simulation (with dice, hard maps, little counters, etc.

Hmm... Do you mean wargame on computer?
I like the Talonsoft Napoleon in Russia and Preldue to Waterloo.

WinSPMBT is nice to. Although the AI is not very good, and I'de like a Grand Campaign where you could select more than 3 opponents (are even better, had it randomly generated)

anyone knows a game that take supply routes into account and battle fronts on large scales ?

Oh gawd, there's tons of 'em. Most of the better ones are boardgames (Europe Engulfed, Advanced 3rd Reich, World in Flames), but there's plenty of computer games that feature a respectable logistics/supply model (HoI2, World at War, etc).

There's nothing quite as horrifying as being cut off your supply, in the winter, deep in the Russian steppes.
