IMHO it is Kobayashi's "Zweiter Weltkrieg."

It features a reasonable amount of starting units (you don't get bored moving 50+ units every turn), it has great balanced play and nice graphics with tanks and planes that looks like the real thing. It also features the genius sub-rule where the subs actually carry torpedoes you can fire at the enemy. Two thumbs up for that.

It has to be Red Front! You'll need to have a LOT of time on your hands and be up for a REAL challange however.

Other notable mentions are Second Front by Nemo, Up the Deadly Boot by John Petroski (very underated in my opinion, an early Red Front almost ) and ZWK by Kobi.

If not for the ridiculous amount of time it takes for each turn (especially early) I'd have to say either "Red Front" or "2194 Days of War." Because of the turn length, however, I'll stick with Koby's more balanced ZWK. I do like John Petroski's "Deadly Boot," though.

My vote goes to TSFE

gee guys I didn't realise that so many people thought that highly of ZWK. thanks for the vote. ZWK is not popular at all over S-League because it doesn't follow the 'Nemo template'. Even then, I should tip my hat off to Nemo for innovations introduced in his WW2 scenarios. As with MajorGen, I would have voted for Red Front but it was just too tedious for me.

Someone. Somewhere said they talked to him, and he seemed to have moved on.

It might have been FMK at Apoly, I really cant remember, look at the Nemo Graphics Poll Thread at Apoly, I think it is in there.
