I just got Wind Waker a few days ago and it is quite good. My question to you is which do you think is the best of these games. Nevermind technology advances, which game did you have the most fun with. Currently my favorite is Ocarina, I am waiting to finish Wind Waker before I make up my mind though.

I haven't played any other than the N64 incarnations.

The original of course, was one of the first games I bought, one of the first ROM's I downloaded and the reason behind me getting the collector's disc. Oh yeah, also Link to the Past was on SNES not NES

I've only played Wind Waker, and it's very good. Heard Ocarnia is better, though.

The original, easily.

I'm a huge Zelda fan. I spend days on end beating these games and they never get old. The only game I don't have is Link's Awakening.

Here's my top 3 favorites:

1. Ocarina of Time (Great storyline; The best one hands down)
2. Wind Waker (One of the best games on the GC; Excellent)
3. Link to the Past (One of the more revolutionary games of the series)

Ocarina of Time, definately.

Wind Waker was also very good. I love the cel-shaded graphics. I love the smooth animation and all the little details.

Then comes Link's Awakening, my first Zelda game. Ironically enough that's the one Zelda game with no Zelda, Ganon(dorf), or Triforce.

That reminds me, I really need to get that Zelda Collectors Edition... since I haven't played the first one, Zelda II, or Majora's. I also need to finish LttP... sometime.

I just finished searching some web sites and apparently they are making a Wind Waker 2. I just hope that they don't rush it and make a sub-par-zelda game like they did with Majora's Mask.

That's a toughie. I'll have to go with the original. There was nothing (or almost nothing) like it at the time, and it was well-designed enough to stand up to a lot of games today.

Second place is a tie between Zelda III (Link to the Past) and Ocarina of Time. Ocarina has some puzzles that kept me thinking for a while, but the boss fights weren't terribly creative. worth one or two good playthroughs, but not a whole lot more than that. Link to the Past, on the other hand, while simpler in both design and difficulty, is a whole lot more fun to play through.

I know you haven't played it, but Majora's Mask is another Zelda game without Zelda, Ganondorf or the Triforce. Just thought I should mention that. :sheep:

I heard that there was a cutscene in the very beginning that involved Zelda... not sure if that really counts, though.

Wow, I am surprised to see that someone voted The Adventure of Link, that is probably the most criticized games in the series.

Not as much as the CD-i Zeldas... :p

Just wondering, why did you keep the Oracle games seperate? Not like anyone was going to vote for them anyway, but I usually view them as one game with two parts rather than two seperate games. I liked Seasons better than Ages, though. ;)

Turns out the Zelda Collector's Edition has more than Nintendo claims. I finally got it today, and aside from missing Oracle of Ages, I'm impressed. The MegaMan Collector's disc can wait. It includes surprise appearances - I mean Easter eggs right inside the games - from Ninja Gaiden and others. I would recommend anyone just buy a new GC to get this Zelda bundle!

I don't consider the CD-i games to be true Zelda games.

I mainly kept them separate because they were released that way. But really they are all one story, they are just told out of order.

I didn't think that anyone was going to vote for The Adventure of link an look what happened.

Majora's Mask was weird, but I wouldn't say it was subpar, just weird as hell.

My favorite was hands down Windwaker. I've played almost all on the list and there's no question about it. I would reccommend beating ocarina first.

Windwaker is beautiful, features the best physics, GREAT combat, just barely the best story, has fun dungeons, and manages being somewhat easy without not feeling challanging, which while I'm not happy it was easy, they pulled it off without making me angry at all. I was in AWE during the entire game. No other game has made me feel that way ever.

Ocarina was tons of fun, but I feel its dungeons weren't really fun; they were a chore. You felt good beating them, but playing them was taxing.

Link to the Past is my number 2 choice, also tons of fun. Good, nontaxing dungeons, and just all around fun. I beat that game once never upgrading my armor, and I tried also never upgrading my sword beyond blue. However, unless you tempre it or beyond, you cannot hurt the boss of the game :( So with green armor, 1 green potion, and an orange sword I have beaten the game (thats right, no healing potions or fairies!)

How could you say that? Those CD-i games were groundbreaking! I mean, who wouldn't talk to someone by hitting them with your sword? :p
