"Beta" Massive WW2 scenario

ei meateater, im kinda confused with your link, which file is the latest and what files do i need to make it work? iv downloaded WW2 The world 4.5? is it really that long to load that game? tnx... hope you have saved games.....

Meateater,

I have these stats for Soviet September 1939
Europa only:

100 Rifle divisons
10 Cavalry divisions
15 Mot. Infantry divisions
9 Tank divisions

They can not be trusted as 100% accurate and I will
continue to research.

The latest update to the scenario is 4.6 you also need to download the file called WW2 theworld. There are instructions on the first page on how to install the files, they are also in the file downloaded. Depending on your PC the load time will verry, but I would say at least an hour to load it up. Sorry no saved games at the moment, but try Rocotechs mini-scenario of this scenario.

Thanks for the info, I need to look at this other site that lists all of the Soviet rifle divisions and when they were created, but just have not had the time. I would like to also find something on the Soviet forces stationed above Manchuria. After that is found we can look back at what we have allready found with the OOB's for the Polish and Finnish battles. This way we can see what we have and what we don't.

Id also say there were around 25 divisions from siberia

That is probably right. Little is known in the West that
1934 onwards Stalin was obsessed with the thought
that Japan should invade Siberia.

It even went so far that the Military Commander
in Sverdlovsk gave order to build fortifications
to counter the hreat from Japan.

Look at a map and you will understand it was
a strange order.

Research on the 1939 OOB is hard due to the fact
that still "old comrades" from the Soviet-era still
are active and to be honest deliver outright lies such
as that Soviet only had 50% of Germanys tanks
and such nonsense.

Meateater,

Most of the Internet-sources on Soviet OOB
September 1939 holds low quality.

I will probaby order an high-quality product on
the subject (only available in US).

It costs $ 175. Although I am i no way rich, it can be
worth it, to get a real accurate Soviet OOB for 1939.

On page 23, post 453 you can download a mini-scenario.

I recommend you to do that , since it uses the new Order
of Battle and give a very good picture on how game-play
flows.

You will note that the importance of air-power is
well reflected.

1st and 2nd Special Red Banner Armies were stationed in the far east, but still need to find out what units made up these. One site said that the Soviets had 45 divisions (infantry, armor, my guess) in the far east to discourage the Japaniese from attacking.

Found an air war OOB for the Battle for the Khalkin Gol, but need to look at it some more.

Here is one site about that small war.
http://www-cgsc.army.mil/carl/resources/csi/drea2/drea2.asp#2

I will keep looking for information.

Meateater,

I will have confimation today if the $ 175 source
I mentioned are in stock, if it is all problems with
regard to Soviet OOB 1939 will be solved.

those armies were in the east indeed. Im going to watch ROTK tommorow (again, LOL), but after that if you need names of commanders of specific armies... even divisions and where they fought on the eastern front, Axis or Russian. I can give you those stats if requested, but they are all Barbarossa and beyond.

Sarevok,

I thank you for that. The problem is that we must
have stats for September 1939.

Again if my special source is in stock all problems
will be solved.

That book should be of some help, it sounds like a good source. Did you say you found it on the web? but it can only be purchased in the U.S.?

Well I am learning more about the war the more reaserch I do. I didn't realize the Soviet-Japanese war carried over into WWII, I knew that it was close but not that close. Anyway after Germany and the Soviets signed a Nonagression pack while the Soviets and Japan were still at war, it sure made the Japanses look south to expand the empire. And could that decision made by the Germans to make that pact with the Soviets have some effect on the Japanese decision to stay out of the German-Soviet war. A little odd but when the Soviets and Japan did sign a nonagression pack it was Germany that played the third party in that signing, I think just months before the Germans attacked the Soviets.

About the 1st and 2nd Special Red Banner Armies I am not sure if the (RED) was still used in the name. The Red was from the civil war I think(reds vs whites), and some sources have the red in the name and some don't. Just a little something.

Meateater,

Yes its a comb. of a book and a wargame.

Still no order confirm., but these people are
serious so no problem.

When searching Internet I am disappointed,
that (with regard to Russian sites) there is still
so many Stalinists spreading outright lies about WW2.

Its ashame when you consider the millions of Russians
who died in WW2.

I will continue my searches to see what else I can find. I agree with you but I think it has something to do with the type of government that the Soviets had been under for so long too. Sometimes the record keeping from battles are not good, sometime field commanders would not report the bad news for fears of being relieved of duty and not by demotion but firing squad. I am sure you have read about this. From that last site I listed they told about the inflated battle stat (kills and such) that would be reported on both sides.

Even to this day I am sure there is classified information that is being with held. All we can do is the best we can with the information that we can get.

Drivebymaster
I have not checked it out yet, but sounds cool. Are they using a custom animation?

I found some on the Soviet navy but just the battleships ( we allready had ) and cruisers. I know by 1941 they had one of the biggest submarine forces. So I am going to look in to finding more info on the destroyers and subs on hand for 1939, not much luck so far though.

I am also looking to update the scenario to the latest patch when it is a final release, maybe this weekend it will come out.

Meateater,

Yes they had some 150 submarines September 1939.
I continuue to research and hope that my
"super-source" shall arrive.

Looking forward to the update.
