"Beta" Massive WW2 scenario

Meateater,

Have you found any good sources on Soviet September 1939?

I am still searching.

So fare I was looking at the Soviet infantry divisions and strengths. This is what I have.
On the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939 the Red Army had an estimated 1,800,000 men
in its ranks, of whom one fourth were stationed in the Far East.
( 194 Divisions ) The Soviet had been in civil war prior to the start of WWII. The Red army was not a professional one and it showed in the Russo-Finnish war. Most of the infantry divisions at the start of the war were conscript and ill trained and was not un till after the war with the Fins that they started to make the Army better.

I will see what else I can find on the armored forces.

Meateater,

These stats for June 22 1941 I regard as nearly
100% accurate:

60 Tank divisions
36 Motorized Rifle divisions
13 Cavalry divisions
6 Airborne divisions
194 Rifle divisions

If all the Tank and Motorized Rifle divisions
had been at full strength it would have meant 32 000 tanks.

However sources differ froom 22 700 tanks to 29 300 tanks.

By the end of 1938 Soviet tank strenght was 15 000+.

January 1939-June 1941 125 Rifle divisions was created.
It seems like the increase in Tank divisions during the
same period was 40 to 60 and Mot. Rifle 20 to 36.

Hi there, I really liked your map, but as a brazilian I would like to say that many things are wrong at brazil's territory.
Many times you used a city, but it would be more logical to use a State.
1. It's Rio de Janeiro (instead of Reo de Janeiro)
2. It's Curitiba (Curityba), and it's a city, capital of the State Paraná
3. Porto Alegre (without "-") is a city, capital of Rio grande do Sul.
4. It's Vitória, not Victoria. (I didn't understand the dot), and it is a city too, the State is Espirito Santo
5. The is not a Sao Salvador, there is Salvador, a city, of the State of Bahia
6. Goias, not Goyaz
7. Corumba it's a city
8. Porto Alegre (Puerto Alegre - this is in Spanish!)
7. I don''t know that is Teffe
8. Manaus is a city, state is Amazonia.

And many other States not mentioned,
Also Brazil was not only jungle in +-1940, we had jungles like that in 1500.
It's not that i didn't like the map or something like that. I really liked it, and it's rare that someone mentions Brazil, thanks :P

If you wanna a map: http://www.totaltrade.com.br/IMAGENS E FOTOS/MAPA-BRASIL-ESTADOS.gif
but take you Acre and Roraima that back that was not part of Brazil. Ah, Brazil participed at the ww2, at the side of US, we had troops, marines, subs, ships and etc.
If you want help, just ask.

thanks

Thanks for the information Rocoteh I will see what else I can find. I saw an OOB from the Russo-Finish war somewhere and I think that may be of some help too. Since it is verry close to the start of WWII.

Brasileiro
Thanks for the comments, in placing 512 cities I have made a mistake here and there, I shall correct them for the next update. Here is the world map I am using for a reference it is from 1942

http://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/map_item.pl

And some cities names have stayed the same since they were built others change or even have more than one name.

http://71.1911encyclopedia.org/C/CU/CURITYBA.htm

And yes in due time the Brazilian military will get done too, I think its the PTW version that has your capital ships placed in it
( provided by Rocoteh ) So we are thinking on a global scale and are trying to represent all that participated.

ei, where's your link for the scenario? and do you have saved games for faster loadings for us who have slow pc's? thnx..... :)

The link is on the first page of this thread, as for the saved games there are none up for download at the moment. There have been some to download in the past and there will be when the scenario gets finished.

Meateater,

I will do a new Mini-scenario for those who want
to try the new OOB.

With regard to the Soviet OOB September 1939
I consider buying some new books, if I do not
find good sources soon.

Rocoteh

Sarevok,

The irony is that I have every Soviet unit, name,
position and strenght for June 22 1941......

Mini-scenario 2,

Here is a Mini-scenario to show the new OOB:s
and how they will work.
To play this Mini-scenario you must first have downloaded
The WW2 The World.zip and installed it.
Hints: There are MANY naval units in this scenario.
Start moving your ground and air units, select the naval
units you want to move, and then hit end turn.

Probably this scenario have a record in invested
research hours.

After download please hit the download-counter.

I found OOB's for the Soviet invasion of Poland and Finland, I will see how they compare with eachother. The next update should include the OOB for the Soviet forces for the invasion of Poland. Also found one more site with the Soviet rifle regiments from 1939-45 but need to look at it some more.

Meateater,

That sounds good.

I will also take a new look at the OOB I mentioned
earlier (the one with 9 Tank divisions) to see if its
looks accurate.

Best Regards

Rocoteh

Well I uploaded 4.6 for download with the ground forces for the Soviets for the invasion of Poland and Finland. Still need to add artillary units to the rifle divisions, and only have the ones for the invasion of Finland, so well see.

From the OOB's I saw on these two battles the Soviets had around 25 Tank Brigades, and 22 tank battalions mixed with the rifle divisions. Three or four tank battalions would make a brigade.

Meateater,

I just saw one source stating Soviet attacked Finland
with 26 divisions out of a total of 100 divisions.

If this source is correct it would mean Soviet Army
increased with 203 divisions November 1939 - June 1941.

I regard the June 1941 stats as nearly 100% accurate.

Best Regards

Rocoteh

Meateater,

I can say with regard to June 22 1941 that
303 divisions 100% is a minimum.

Historian Gary Grigsby (who probabably rank among
the 10 most competent East-front historian in the world)

Gives this stats for 22 June 1941 Europa, the rest of
Soviet excluded.

54 Tank divisions
32 Mot. Rifle divisions
17 Cavalry divisions
5 Airborne divisions
13 Mountain divisons
161 Rifle divisions

1944 it had increased to about 450 divisions.
