beyond the sword and vista

i just reloaded beyond the sword on my laptop. When I start the game it gives me a message stating the game has stopped working and stops the program. Any Ideas ? I have been experiencing this for a while. Some times the game won't even start other times it loads and stops working. MY system is above minimum specs.

the game is patched to ver 3.1.7. Vista is current. Most of the time when I doubkeclick to start the game nothing happens. When the game actually loads I might get a few tirns in and then the game ends and I get a message saying the application stopped working and shuts down. IT is frustrating not to get a error message or code.

open the windows event manager - are there any error logs for the times that this happened?

Nope no error logs. I will try to reload again. I just have no idea I tried to go back to xp but did not have the appropriate drivers.

did you install the game with administrator rights? i.e. rightclick on the installer and choose run as admin?

Not sure if you are still looking in this thread. I did install with admin rights. looking through the even viewer and problem log the only error I see is when It tried to install directx9 it failed. According to dxdiag on the laptop directx 10 is installed however i did notice the diagdx on xp has more information. Should it look the same ?

I have Vista64 here.

Once the game starts I don't have issues but it can take 4 - 5 tries sometimes to get it to start.

Make sure to terminate the CIV process for any instances you try to start that fail to run. That may be causing you issues after it's running.

It is annoying though.

When I run civ4 bts with the Rise of Mankind mod the terrain becomes invisible when I zoom out to see the globe. Anyone had this problem or know of a fix?
