Bic file problems..Help plz:)

Hi .... I am fairly new to mods and i was hoping someone can help me. I want to change the persian xerses to an armenian ruler name .... well i cvhange the name and the associated words like persia persians ect and save the file but when i try to start a new game it says" invalid ruleset canf find default ruleset reinstall civilization 3".What am i doing worong or cant i change this at all.

hmmm, from your other post, you used wordpad to edit civ3mod.bic? You're not suppose...file corruption (loose train of thought)...I hope you backed up the file, if not...uhhh, reinstall civ3 unless you can convince someone to attach the file...wonder if anyone has done so...anyway, you should use civ3edit (comes with the game (shameless plug : http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=231995#post231995 - hacked editor for v1.17f, reveals add and delete buttons for many of the tabs (i.e. natural resources, etc) hey, if you use this, you can break the game even more (jk) ). So, anyway, don't use wordpad for anything civ3 related except text files (civilopedia.txt, etc). Hmm...what else, Plutarck has a mod tutorial whic has some useful information in it ( http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9337 ) this should get you started....but hey, you probably figured out all this in the time it took me to write all this stuff. Also, if you haven't gotten the v1.17f patch yet, do so as installing that should (put will) replace your civ3mod.bic file. Don't use the plugged editor listed above unless you have v1.17f. That should be it, and thanks for bearing with my slightly (yeah right ;p ) patronizing tone
