No, it's more like someone naming something after Nixon. Did a lot of illegal things that got him in trouble, but was still a major part of our history and did do some good.

Yep, good ol' watergate nixon. Sounds more like Clinton, who did great things, and did a few things bad (which I still push the point that his personal life does not affect our country. Man had an itch he needed to get scratched.)

    Then lied about it. Repeatedly.

    Then ducked it. Repeatedly.

And did the same on policy issues. There's a good reason he's called "Slick" Willie.

The media age we're in means that what used to be "business as usual" for Presidents is front page news and means of public castigation. Add in the blogs, and the ability of insiders to leak information in ways never before possible, and there's a good reason for the current viewpoint of people on political affairs.

I doubt we'll see a truly ethical/honorable president for quite some time.

I saw someone on the forum use it during another game, and I just remembered it. This is one of those little things that might help us plan our game. (We now know where the equator is, so we can assume where the polar areas are, and we don't have to send ships there.)

I have a couple of more noms:

In honour of Dutchfire's contribution to the science of Cartography, I nominate the river by New Port City to be 'Dutch River'.

I nominate the river near Old Sarai/Basillica to be 'Crimea River' (if you say it right it makes sense :) ).

A dutchman should get water named after him.

In honor of Orsen Scott Card, the lake south of Basillica should be the "Lake of the Women".

Just so we have some choices:
The lake near Old Sarai should be "No Wrath of Khan".
The bay near New Port City could be "New City Port".
The equator could be the "Judiciary Line".

Wow, that's a lot of polls. Mind if I do it in stages so we don't have 20 polls open at once?

Hope it's not to late, but for the equator since it goes through the jungle, if the jungle is named the Alphawolf Jungle, could we call the Equator the Alpha-line.

I mean come on, it makes perfect sense in three aspects.

It is named after the person who drafted our constitution (or whatever)

"Alpha" meaning supreme (like alpha male), so calling it The Alpha Line would mean it is the supreme line (which the equator is.)

And if the Jungle is named the AlphaWolf Jungle, the equator goes right through that jungle and it would make perfect sense.

Okay, the first set of polls (the 6 mountains) have opened. Sorry for taking so long to get this stuff set up, but I haven't been around as much as I would've liked for the last week and a half or so. I will open up the next round of polls tomorrow, and the last round in two days. There will be some overlap, but at least they're not all starting on the same day.
