Ok, sometimes when I'm in editor it says error:not a valid file or something like that. I saw a similar post but it wasn't quite the same as my situation. I recently bought the Civ 3: Complete. Now, when I make a civ scenerio or conquest, when i start playing it works fine and its ok but some of the features are completely missing! Like the building your palace up and viewing your cities. I like those features and I like creating new units and scenerios!!! So I thought it was a fixable problem and all I had to do was reinstall Civ. I reinstalled...still bad! Plz help!

Plz note that when i dont make a scenario and play it (start a new game directly from civ3 complete) i can build up my palace and view my cities...????WTH!? is all i can say

The city and palace view was removed from mods in Conquests. They (Firaxis) had to choose between funding the coding for gameplay, or artwork. They chose gameplay.

Look, when I click on Civ Complete and hit new game, I HAVE those features (Palace Building and City Viewing), but when i load a scenario i DONT have those features.

That's because those functions are disabled in scenarios/mods. What part of that don't you understand?

Wow, how stupid! why the the guys at firaxis only disable those features with scenarios and mods..... sorry i insulted you when i was the one who didnt understand;)

No worries.

Like I said previously, they could work on the artwork, or they could work on the game play.

It would have been nice if the palace view remained. I don't understand what a mod has to do with that. But if you've played Vanilla/PTW, in a mod like Double Your Pleasure, you'd see just how messed up that screen was.

You can still play a mod with the city view if you rename the mod CONQUESTS, this so ive been told.

SO if your mod has changes to gameplay and units governments and resources you can still enjoy the city view. Im not sure how new buildings will show up. Replicas of other buildings I imagine.

Huge potential for modding ended in the toilet when they scrapped the chance to design new city scapes with user created buildings, never mind custum cribs!. I don't buy the lack time excuse Turner used(no offense). If it was only time they needed they would have added this feature in the LEGACY PACKAGED due this month. No I think its to hard to impliment for their programmers (Lack of Talent)

I didn't say it was a lack of time. It was a lack of funds.

Don't believe me? Whatever. But I'm just repeating what others who participated in the beta (I did not) have said. Go do a search, and you'll see others talking about it.

Not to further derail this thread, but it was lack of "resources". That can be translated into lack of money/people/time/whatever. They didn't have the money to hire the number of people they would need for the amount of time it would take to do all the artwork stuff. So they (rightfully) chose to channel all their efforts into gameplay. They had artists on board to do the new units/leaderheads/etc. But those artists did not have time enough to also do the City View buildings and integration. And there wasn't enough money to hire more artists.

(And, yes, I was one of the beta-testers.)

Ya the 'no offence' meant I believed you wern't the one who said it!!:) Still like i said above it seems pityful they couldn't spare the time/ money/ people to finish this incomplete project. I mean their setting up for a 2nd round of milking a supposive 'complete series'(LEGACY EDITION after CIV COMPLETE) without ever finding the time/ people/ money,, to ever really finish the job in the first place. Pathetic!

Whats their excuse? not enough money from sales ofUN-COMPLETE

Yes pm the moderator Platonius for further info on that matter, thats if you are really interested. Hope thats helps you more to that regard :)

Well, I've disproved that theory. I didn't talk to the Moderator but I tried it and it didn't work. It was rumor I guess but if you would like to prove that I'm wrong go ahead:) i love the city view option

I had thought it wouldn't work. I seem to recall that Conquests will do a checksum on the conquests.biq, and if it doesn't match up it assumes it's a mod and bye-bye city and palace view.
