Well, when a good percentage of your ethnic group is in the dumps, then I think you've got a major problem. There are only a few wealthy black people, that is a fact. Not 25% of the black population makes more than 80K, you cannot dispute that. There are only a few of those black scholarships, just like any other scholarship.

I inflated the number of poor black people sorry. White people to account for 44% of poor people, but they also amount for 66% of the population. One would think in a fair world they would amount to 66% as well instead of 44%.

Just saying that America is a liberal enough society to make religion a non-issue. Plus who knows a Jew by looking at them, I don't. I think you can see if someone is black. (sometimes you can't, I'm not kidding). There are only a few poor jews because most are well educated.

Being black isn't harder then being any other colour in America. There aren't some majical forces holding black people back.

Knowledge is the key to power and the ability to claw yourself out of poverty. The sad thing is that the amount of knowledge that is needed to claw yourself out is a very large sum. Easily achieved by going to the library, but who in inner city Detroit would want to do that?

Well, there are some undercurrents in America but in most places racism is mostly a non-issue. The problem isn't being black, it's being poor. The black poor kid, the white poor kid, the asian poor kid, and the mexican poor kid are all pretty much screwed. Just that there is a higher percentage of black poor kids in the black ethnic group than of white poor kids in the white ethnic group.

There are real, sociological and economic forces, not majical.

Are they well off? I looked at one of these arguments that seems to be over the exact same premise of race and Gecko1 said something like. African immigrants come to America with a good schooling, so I guess that, that translates to richer Ethiopian Jews. Knowledge can drag you out of any situation, but if you're rich enough to immigrate to America you shouldn't end up poor.

I don't suppose that you will realize that this about about guilt by:

1) Poor judge of character
2) Choosing to associate, for 20 years, with the likes of Wright
3) Lying about what he knew
4) "Never being proud of her country before"

No-one is trying to indict Obama on racism charges, but he is guilty of 1-3 above and his wife is guilty of 4. You cannot change that by crying "guilt by association!" or "Bush Nazi!"

I never said they were. I said they were both minorities and only one group is poor; therefor, minority = poor fails.
