BioNES: Paddling in the Gene Pool

Yes if your taking new players I'd like to join as I enjoy these types of NES, particularly with me studying for a degree in genetics.

nice to see such a good response already :D

@ Seon and Merciary: anyone can join anytime :) and im not going to be having formal turns either, so you can add a new species to the game if you like but if you cant be bothered or are too busy it will still continue :p

We all become small organisms eventually...

i should have specified small multicellular organisms (like a worm or something) of course, those multicellular organisms from the last BioNES can be carried over if you choose (like the flying plants and amoeba colonies), but ill give you all a new 'species ID' method some time later.

Maybe it's possible to speed this one up a bit so we don't lose our creations, possibly by giving some 'bonus'-genes

if by speed up you mean faster updates, i dunno :p ill see how we go. im aiming at a more informal NES so its not so structured and stressfull (particularly for me :p) can you elaborate on these 'bonus' genes?

Does merciary and I get extra DNA points for starting late?

I didn't mean faster updates :p

I meant accelarating evolution a bit by allowing the players to add extra genes to their creatures so their creatures become small organisms faster (and we can keep our creations ;))

nope. every one is starting again, and will have to remake their old species (or make new ones) with the new rules and DNA points.

for example i am assuming certain things such as multicellularity, some form of communication and some form of energy acquisition (such as eating other organisms, photosynthesis, chemosynthesis, or even eating rocks) this means that in actual fast you should all start off more advanced than those who had creatures from the last BioNES. Movement wont cost anything either for animals, but for plants im gonna say youll have to spend DNA to get your plants walking (or flying in immaculate's case ;) )

its not a bad idea. im thinking about new rules now and ill definatley increase the ammount of DNA aloud per evolution.

im pretty excited about starting this but i dont want to start it too prematurely (i should be doing an assignment not reading this forum right now) so if you guys can handle my occasional dissapearance then i will probably start this up in a few days.

Can i start with searchus fahrabuv?

sure can :)

EDIT: i got ahead of myself and made a new thread for BioNES II [HERE] (please dont post in it yet though cause i wanna grab a couple of posts for modding purposes.)
