is the battleship that was supposed to be the biggest ship on the sea...in WWI??

WW2 actually, but I don't think it was supposed to be the biggest on the sea.

the yamato and her sister ship were the largest in wwII

Although I've heard stuff about some übership the Germans were planning that would have made the Bismark look like a cruiser! IIRC, it had a planned waterdisposal of a quarter million. I don't much about ships, but that seems like a lot. But, like so many other things, just plans.

looks cool:goodjob:

Wyrm my friend it looks great!! can't wait to add it to the mod as an update!

The MEAD (I think that was what the British one was called, something like that, sorry), was not outdated. It was a British forey into the large battleship IIRC.

he meant the battleship Hood, a fine ship in WWI, but a bit outdated in WWII

btw: her sistership Tirpitz had an even worse history. It was kept in some nordic fjord all through the war, it didn't see any action at all.

Actually the Hood was commissioned in 1920 so it wasn't really a WWI ship also it was a BC not a BB
Actually Hood wasn't really obsolete compared to Bismarck and was in several ways better than Bismarck, namely in armor distribution and AA defense
Hood was outdated compared to many "new" battleships, but in many ways Bismarck used WW I technology
Also Bismarck suffered under the same faults that Hood had mostly in the lack of proper Deck armor, if Bismarck was hit like the Hood was it would propably have ended like the Hood
About the Size both the Vanguard and Iowa was heavier, and thus in Battleship terms larger also if you take all warships built during the war the Shinano would also beat Bismarck with a tonnage like the Yamato class

The Yamato was 862 ft long, 121 ft wide, 68,010 tons standard displacement, and had 9 18.1 " guns.

The Iowa was 887 ft long, 108 ft wide, 52,000 tons standard displacement, and had 9 16" guns.

The Bismark was 823 ft long, 118 ft wide , 45,200 tons standard displacement, and had 8 15" guns.

As you can see, the Bismark wasn't the biggest battleship of WW2, but, she was notorious. Her sinking was famous. It should be noted, that althought the Iowa's had smaller main guns than the Yamato, the 16" guns actually had more armor penetration than the 18.1" guns.

Here's a good site the compares battleships of WW2. It covers armor, guns, radar, AAA, and more.
