BLA1 - Mystical Monarch

First thing I would like to say is that this is only my second SG, the first being DGT2 (link in my sig) which is not yet even near over.
I just really like the whole SG thing (even though I am barely familiar with it) and I sorta stopped playing normal games of Civ (other than the Conquests which I am working through) but I could not find any new SGs for my level that were still open for more players.
So I decided I better take matters into my own hands and open an SG myself.
My idea is this:
Only set thing is Regent level and possibly the victory conditions (even though we can make this random as well with some manual randomization). Everything else is random.
This should prove interesting...
The game will be played on either C3C 1.15b or PTW 1.27 or VC3 1.29 because these are the versions I have installed. I preffer C3C, but it's up to the group.
So, if anyone is interested in playing, say so.
You should be able to beat a game of Civ on the version we will select to play on in order to play this game. Also notice you don't need any SG experience to join, I want the game style to be relatively laid-back because I like that alot in DGT2...

Sounds like fun, but I'll have to pass. My wife would have my head. But from your play in DGIT2, I'd say make it a Monarchy game at least. Half the game is in the challenge! I'll look forward to lurking...

Nah, I wanna take it easy... Also, the complete randomality may make the game harder than expected... And we can always add in some crazy variant if we see we get five cows on a coastal river as the Maya or something. =P
EDIT: Not to mention Random Regent sounds better than Random Monarch.

I think the general difference between monarch and regent is the fact that you have to keep a closer eye on things in general, the ai does get a slight bonus and a few extra units, but other than that there isn't a lot of difference.

Sir Bugsy in the training day experiment said that the difference should be ignored and you should just focus on the situation at hand.

I'd like to sign up, but only if we are to play some kind of variant.
Reason for this is that I've already won a few Regent games and are aiming for a higher goal now: Monarch

I'd love to try a 5 or 8(*) city challenge for instance, or an AW, or what have you. But if it's going to be a regular game, I'll just lurk

* With 8 cities, we could have 2 armies!

Frollo, I really think we should first see our start and tribe before we choose some crazy variant... I'll put you up on the roster, you're free to leave if we decide not to play any variant...

Anyway, do we want to also randomize the victory conditions? I think Mass Regicide and Wonder Victory should be an option if we do this... May prove interesting.

Yes, I guess I'll better leave. But I hope you believe me when I say that this decision has nothing to do with playing a variant or not.
I would have loved to play a SG anyhow, any SG, it's great fun, but being in a PBEM and a few single player games as well, I simply haven't got the time to play any more Civ than I already do.

I'm not sure if we're ready for AWM, but I'd be willing to give it a shot. Probably not in this thread though. Aren't you in 2 AWE already TJ? You're a sadastic one aren't ya? Again, it's Blas's game, but I'd love to start an AWM in another thread if Blas wants to keep this one standard. I haven't even won a Monarch game yet! I can't stand meeting my first civs, and having them up 4 techs.

You're on.

I think it's time for us to decide wether we want random victory conditions and wether we want to play Random Regent or Mystical Monarch.

I would personally rather stick with Random Regent and all standard victory conditions enabled, but it's up to us as a group.

I'd like to sing in. My current level is monarch and I would prefer to play that, but an all random game will be fun on regent too.
I would not like to patch down my conquest if possible, so I would suggest playing ptw, which has a stable version and less bugs.
