Black Screen at Startup

Hi all,

I'm new to Civ V and can't find a solution for this in the forums (I'm sure its there, but I can't find it.) I have set the "SkipIntroVideo = 1" flag in the User settings file. When I start up, the screen goes black about the time the video would run, and stays black for quite a while (around 5 minutes) and is not responsive to escape keys, mouse clicks, etc. It is almost like it is running the video but just not showing it. Eventually, it shows the startup screen (the parental content warning). After that, the game runs pretty much correctly. Anyone else run into this and know how to fix it?

The opening video is used to cover the game loading. So if you turn off the opening video you get a black screen while the game loads.

How long the black screen is there depends on how fast the game loads on your computer. On mine it's only a few seconds (but the computer is very fast), it sounds like it takes a long time to load on your computer, about as long as the opening video.

Short of upgrading your computer, you'll just have to wait, or re-enable the opening video so you have something to watch while it loads.
