Black Terrain

Hey All my terrain is black, like sea, grassland, etc, except for trees and some resources (sometimes). I have installed 1.09 patch, is there anything I can do to fix this problem? Please Help. I'll post a screenshot of it if you want one, just reply.

Can you please post your Dxdiag dump, it will be needed for someone to help you

(go to start button, click, choose run, type in "dxdiag", let it chunter away, then press "save all information", upload the file here by using the 'advance' button below)

Also when uploading it, outline any other symptoms that seem strange to you of any nature

Also, the leaders' faces are not shown, only teeth eyeballs, and dressing (not clothes) hats, sashes, etc.

EDIT: I just noticed, my RAM is 2 MB too low, is there any way to raise it? (no right?). Oh well, guess I can't play CIV 4

The system requirements say "DirectX 9.0c-compatible 64 MB video card with Hardware T&L support",

Yours is an on board graphics chip if memory serves me right - if so, you may have a problem there as I think that chip does not support all the Directx 9 features. The memory side is ok, (256RAM & 64Mb video), but need to verify if the game supports this chip, I have a feeling it wont. I hear you re 254, but maybe you will get away with it albeit it is 2mb adrift

Suggest you pop back in the morning, if no further info on this thread - repost with the Title "Does Civ IV support Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller",and one of the guys with definitive knowledge of that chip will pick it up. I am almost certain it does not support T&L, if true you will not be able to run it properly

Same f$*&* Problem... Son of B$#@$% that realize this game before test....
anyway to find a cure for this i try everything I already tried to reinstall the windows!!!

I downloaded the Omega drivers from http://www.omegadrivers.net, and now the map looks normal. It's probably a driver compatibility issue; your current driver might actually be too new. Anyway, I got this tip from an earlier post.

I have that chip and while it is technically not supported (no hardware tnl), you can get the game to work with some tweaking. You obviously will not have a great framerate but I don't really care in a turn based strategy game. As far as the black terrain- the 1.09 patch fixed it for me. If that doesn't work, search through the forums older posts. This is a well documented glitch, and I'm sure there is a fix out there that will work for you.

I don't know about Intel cards, but no solution has been found yet for SIS cards. I have a SIS 650, and nothing can remove the blacknesss for me. I've tried 1.09, Harkonen's patch, worldbuilder, and no luck.
