Ok, I know blight is rare. And I have no problem that it exists. But I do have a different problem with it.

I was recently (as in jus this night) playin a game and blight happened twice. Now, I was ok with it the f1st time (which happened roughly at AC 45), despite the fact that it's annoyin and reduces my population. However, the 2nd time, it was 90 AC. By then, since I was Alexis and therefore evil, all my land was hell terrian. As a result, there was less food to go round, due to a lack of healthiness mostly. That means less population. Well, blight further reduces my population. So, my response is "WAT THE HELL?!!! (Ironic since I'm surrounded by hell terrain, right?) Why now?!!!! Grr..."

Why isn't blight a single one-time event for every neutral or evil civ? Why does it have to happen twice? I jus find it annoyin. As I unnerstand it, it's an event that happens based on an X% chance every turn, course where the X% is very, very (very, etc.) low. (Btw, does any know wat that X% chance is?) So, why can't it be changed to only happen once as I suggested above?

Anyone else have this happen ever? If so, your thoughts? If not, your thoughts anyway?

Blight is a once only event, which triggers only when the AC first reaches 40. Pestilence is an almost identical event that can happen randomly at any AC over 40

Very good question (the one about the chance). In another game I played the (good) elves with the FoL (and thank god for that) and I was hit with blight (AC40) an 20-30 turns later I was hit with pestilence (still AC40). Later during that game I was hit with pestilence two (yes TWO) more times. The only thing that made that game playable for me was just that fact that I was good and FoL. Didn't finished the game, It become to easy (the others wasn't followers of FoL or good and for them it is hard).

Ok, well then, I have no problem with Blight. I do with pestilence. But why, when you look at the health icon in the cityset, does it say like 25 unhealthiness from Blight, when it's a pestilence since it's happened twice? That makes lil sense. Someone should change that. I officially hate pestilence, btw.

Well don't waste Erebus then. :p

No AC > 39, no blight / pestilence.

So use Sanctify and inquisiting Veil liberally and fight evil civs + don't take the big bad options from random events.

High AC is meant to hurt most civs that don't directly like to bring armageddon and even some of them... (and it really helps to shake things up lategamewise + is a tradeoff for watton eradicating of cities / civs...)

I like bein evil. I guess I'll have to live with it. But I still wish pestilence didn't exist.

While I have not ran into the blight and pestilence combo yet, I'd have to say I probably agree that this would just plain suck, especially if Pestilence isn't also considered a one time event (kinda like the randomness of it though).

Blight has been changed in recent patches since I last encountered it, to make it a lil less devastating. But I couldn't imagine stacking another unhealthy trait on top of that. Just would add more annoyance and disgust with the game (and maybe to a game you are really enjoying!) instead of adding something fun or interesting to the game. But thats just my opinion, if you can turn this off, you better believe I would turn off Pestilence in my own games. Blight on the other hand totally sucks, but it's something interesting you have to try to live with if someone is bringing up that Armageddon Counter like mad.

I think there should be an option in custom game to turn pestilence off.

Well there is...

Turn armageddon counter effects off. Custum game option (or are there even 2 of those?) hallowed ground it is called i belive. Thats enough for that imo and there are also some other options regulating hell, AC and compact effects. Need not an option for every small nuance allready solidly covered elsewhere. Check first complain later. ;)

Armageddon counter is there to damage and to shake up the lategame and give it a twist not to be a fancy bucket of flowers sweetening up your day.

But you can very well play without it. (i rarely reach blight even with regular AC and no impedement on the other backgound options. I go for actively reducing it including killing off prophecy mark units and hyborem or finishing off Veil civs. Works well.
May not work so well for warmongers aiming for domination or conquest i reckon. But there is the question how far that kind of victories are away with you razing all over the world and pushing the AC up real hard.)

@ rocklikeafool: And if you like beeing evil so much, go infernal allright. That civ is most suited to that kind of playstyle after all and has no drawbacks from Armageddon whatsoever (including blight and pestilence.). Have fun sending the world to hell while all other civs suffer badly from it.
(or Sheiam / Clan / Doviello to a lesser extent which get some nice units in the process or have not to face the horsemen / Sect of Flies / Avatar at least and are all prone to evil / warmonger playstyle rather than builder oriented peacemongering.)
Another option to deal with ac in addition to the custom game disablers of Armageddon. :p (If you wanna be evil, play evil. Good guys playing evil cant work all that well. Is that a big wonder?)
