I am trying to figure out how to turn a .bmp file into a .pcx file, which is used for Civilopedia images. I am trying to put in a new city improvement, and I am trying to use a modified version of the Colossus as the picture for it, but I had to turn it into a .bmp for Microsoft Paint and I don't know how to reverse the process. If you could help, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Try a graphics editor such as Paint Shop Pro or Adobe Photoshop. They can handle just about any graphics extension that exists. You shouldn't have too difficult a time finding the shareware version of Paint Shop Pro out on the Internet.

Its not just the .pcx file - you also need certain aspects of the color palatte to be just right. Go to the forum on tutorials and read the thread about transparencies for some insight on that. Its really easy once you get the hang of it - only takes a few seconds.

Photoshop is awesome - but did you know that it (or at least v4.0) doesn't accept .gif files?

Thanks for your help. I should be able to get it now. I haven't seen any building graphics in any of the forums, does anyone know if anyone has posted any yet? (Wow, lots of "any"s in that sentence :))

Hopefully I can, but I have a 56k... I will look now.

when doing the wonder's pic, I never had any problems with palatte. The unit, the background needs to be the same as default units. that where you can run into trouble.
I have even scanned in my own pic of skylines and parks to create wonders
